I was in my annual art vs art competition and didn't make it to the top 16. but the person who did win wasn't even there! Someone proxy signed him in.

The rules state:
Artists must be present at the Main Event to win.

first page, paragraph 4, IN BOLD.
http://www.artvsart.net/lib/pdf/2013-Rules.pdf

Now people are arguing whether he gets to keep the money or not.
I think the runner-up should get it. Am I wrong?

1. Sorry you didn't make the cut.

2. Runner-up should win. Why have rules if they're not to be followed?

Good rules have consequences/contingencies spelled out for when they are not followed.

I say he doesn't get the money. He pretty clearly should be disqualified. I think it's only fair that the runner-up would get the prize.

The rule seems very clear, I don't know how anyone could argue otherwise.

You can argue otherwise if you really, really want otherwise to be true. Doesn't make you right. Those comments are crazily stupid. A lawsuit? Really?!

In her defense it's her brother. But that is also why she is blind to the facts.

Hey someone finally posted in my court on facebook! I was starting to doubt.

Rules are clear. Runner up is now the winner. Otherwise I declare myself the winner. If we can ignore one rule why not ignore them all. Give me my money. My first act with my winnings is to buy this Whitney guy a happy meal, a Coke and a smile. He needs one.

Believe me, that thought ran thru my mind. I went up to the stage to say something but they all were busy congratulating themselves on the night. I am still surprised the runner up didn't hop onto that stage and steal the mike. You can bet I would have if it was me.

today they posted the bunny won.

And the Art vs. Art 2013 Winner Is...

The Primary Colours board is pleased to announce that Julie Anderson, creator of "Space Bunny", is the 2013 Art vs. Art winner. This is Julie's first Art vs. Art win, and Julie plans to use the $4,000 prize to make even more art!

Julie's piece was the runner-up at the Main Event. The creator of the top advancing piece, "Lady Walking Warthog", did not attend—and as the Official Rules clearly state, the artist must be present to win. Therefore, the Primary Colours board is crowning Julie as the 2013 Art vs Art winner.

Thanks to everyone that participated and attended! Thanks to you, the participating artists collectively earned over $3,500.

We'll see you at next year's Art vs. Art!

Props to the artist himself for being a cool cat about it, unlike his sibling.
