There is no reason to have two A's at the beginning of aardvark. I simply won't do it.

Imperial List
==================
Vader - Squad Leader
Mauler Mithel
Backstabber
Howlrunner
Alpha Squad Pilot

===My Squad===
Kyle(21)
-Ion Turret(5)
-Recon Specialist(3)
-Moldy Crow(3)
-Veteran Instincts(1)

Ibtisam(28)
-Fire Control System(2)
-Adrenaline Rush(1)
-Advanced Proton Torpedoes(6)

Wedge(29)
-R2 Astromech(1)

===Setup===
Imperials started with Alpha right up the middle and Backstabber and Mauler setting up on the left side so I decided to setup on the right edge to throw him off. I think it worked as he put Vader and Howlrunner on the right side (in a bit to avoid an asteroid). I put wedge right in front of them.

===Round 1 and 2===
For the first two rounds it was slow moving. Kyle managed to stack up 4 focus tokens. The only weird move was a zigzag by Backstabber to get behind Mauler out on the far left side.

===Round 3===
The Alpha, Backstabber, and Mauler turned towards the action. Only the Alpha was anywhere close though. Ibtisam went straight just to within range and got a target lock on howlrunner. Kyle went straight 2 to get further ahead and also target locked howlrunner. Howlrunner, Vader, and Wedge all moved forward to create a nice little range 2 brawl. Wedge target locked Vader, Howlrunner focused, and Vader gave Howlrunner an evade and focused himself.

Attack! Kyle gave Wedge a focus. Wedge pumped 2 hits into Vader. Vader shot Wedge but missed. Kyle missed Howlrunner. Howlrunner missed Wedge. There were lots of good evade rolls. Ibtisam landed 2 hits on Howlrunner. Then out of nowhere, the Alpha hits Wedge for 2 hits and a crit which was direct hit. Wham Wedge is down to 1 life.

===Round 4===
The Alpha went 5 forward to try to sling around behind Ibtisam and Kyle next turn. Ibtisam did a turn 2 and landed just millimeters off an asteroid. She target locked Vader. Mauler and Backstabber surged in trying to get into the battle. Kyle banked left to get behind the action but still in range 2 of everyone and target locked Howlrunner. Howlrunner though Kyle would turn in and turned towards that location and focused since she narrowly still had a shot on Kyle. Wedge K-turned behind Vader, but then Vader turned into base contact with Ibtisam, head to head.

Attack! Kyle gave a focus to Wedge. Wedge rolled perfect on Vader and Vader rolled perfect fail. Boom, one down. Kyle shot Howrunner and scored a hit. Boom, two down. Ibtisam missed Mauler. Mauler hit Ibtisam taking away 2 shields. Backstabber shot at Wedge and landed the final hit. Boom, three ships down this round. Alpha had no shot.

===Round 5===
Alpha turned hard to get back into the battle but landed on an asteroid just barely. Took no damage, but lost actions and attack. Ibtisam did a 2 k-turn and adrenaline rushed so she could target lock Mauler. Mauler landed 1 cm in front of Ibtisam. I could barely contain my excitement. Backstabber got in range 2 right behind Ibtisam. Kyle hard turned through an asteroid but didn't take any damage. I figured having Kyle still in the battle instead of taking 2-3 turned to turn around it was worth the gamble.

Attack! Kyle gave a focus to Ibtisam. Kyle ionized the poor Alpha pilot sitting on the asteroid. Ibtisam fired up the Advanced Proton Torpedoes and landed all 5 hits after their ability and use of focus. Mauler had to roll perfect 3 evades to live but did not. Boom, ship gone. Backstabber had range 1 on Kyle but was behind Ibtisam. He chose to fire at Kyle and landed 1 hit and 2 crits. 1 direct hit and 1 (all turns are red). He is suddenly down to 1 hit left.

===Round 6===
The Alpha went his 1 forward and evaded. Ibtisam got right up next to him and locked on. Backstabber went left. Kyle straight ahead, and locked onto Backstabber.

Attack! Kyle rolled 3 hits and Backstabber rolled only 1 evade. Boom, ship gone. Ibtisam rolled 3 hits on the Alpha who rolled all blanks. Even with the evade it was the 2 needed to kill him. Rebel victory!

===Final Thoughts===
It definitely helped that I setup on the opposite side so Mauler and Backstabber were out of the picture for a few turns. Wedge was once again the primary target for the enemy. He did what he was supposed to. Dish out the pain and let Kyle and Ibtisam do their thing without much trouble. The fact that my opponent let me slow play the beginning let me stack Kyle full of focus tokens. Very glad I ditched Salm for Kyle. The extra agility and his focus stacking were key to this victory. They let the Adv. Prot. Torps fire anytime instead of having a 2 turn setup. Getting Vader and Howlrunner off the board as fast as I did was a huge game change. If they had taken another turn to eliminate, it could have been a very different game. Very happy with this win.

I wonder how well this squad would fare against a swarm in a tight formation, it seems spreading out the TIEs gave you a big advantage.

I think that's the point. If you're going against a swarm, force them to go through asteroids. Are they really going to take free hits to keep their formation? Also, ion will be key. Many swarms feature howlrunner. If you cant get a clean shot to kill him, force him to go one way with ion while you go the other. Not too scared of this going into any tournaments in my area. Haven't seen any other players that can field a traditional swarm.

Great report! I just started flying this exact squad. I tried Biggs in place of Wedge (which allowed an extea proton torpedo) to force some enemy fire but have yet to have much luck with it. I really think it's how I flew and also my adversary is a damn good pilot (a real one irl). Anyway, great report and this gives me hope!

I really like your replay. I am already tired of all those imperial victories. Thank you. You gave me hope!
