Yes probably with Britain, no with France. Hitler will want Italy to declare on France to aid surrender rolls so Mussolini will have to pay for that. Britain gets +2 influence immediately and 1 per turn. With 1 successful bribe she'll be client. A 3-4 infantry or garrison in Athens gives Italy a big headache. War cuts Italy's 3 BRP from East Africa. Italy likely needs 3 turns to conquer Greece, 1 to SR troops to Albania, a 2nd to clear the approaches to Athens and a third to kill 2 x 2-3 infantry in it. Suda bay is an important air naval base. TAC on sea control in the central and eastern med can shift between these zones without having to take a turn out SRing. A garrison there keeps it in your hands even if Greece falls. It's like another Gibraltar. With Italy's TAC tied up supporting the ground attack you can land on the toe of Italy. Greece's TAC can help in sea control but that's 1 BRP a turn from her. Britain probably has 15 BRP sitting around doing nothing anyway. Beware, Italy may be angling for alliance with Turkey in a years time. You might have to insert ground forces into the front line via naval transport. If you wanted WDF you'll have to destroy and rebuild or send her round the horn as the central and western med may well be interdicted and.
