Hi all!

I'm going on vacation for a week, and I'm looking for some 2 players games that travel well. We won't have a lot of room in our luggage for games, but things in small boxes would work. I'm going to grab a copy of Mr. Jack Pocket, but I'm not sure what else I should be buying. I'm looking to get 2-3 games.

GG bribes for anyone that helps!

Thanks everyone. You're the best.

For two, I like to travel with:

Icehouse (well, a bunch of stashes and some printed rules)
Biblios
Hive
Haggis

...and though I haven't had the chance to yet, I'd happily bring:

Lost Cities
San Juan
Race for the Galaxy

must must must must must have Würfel Bohnanza, which has cards and dice and a board, but comes in one of the smallest boxes I've seen. It's hands down my favorite push-your-luck game.

After that game, which (did I mention?) you must have, then I'd take Battle Line with me. Just take the cards and it's incredibly small too. Just use pennies or something as the pawns.

Then I would pack (again, just the cards) Flash Duel: Second Edition. For 2-player you actually only need to take half of the smaller cards... that's a lot of game in 30 cards (plus a dozen or 2 if you want to take some characters)

Finally, I'd throw in Zooloretto: The Dice Game, which is an okay game for 3 or 4 players, but an absolutely fantastic, hidden gem of game for 2 players.

Elder Sign....Dice and cards and Lovecraftian horror.

Blood Bowl: Team Manager – The Card Game....Gridiron football to the death. Cards and dice.

Agent Hunter would work well. It's a little on the short side, but if you've got five minutes to kill you could do worse.

Citadels doesn't seem like it would play well with two players (since it supports up to eight), but it actually works surprisingly well.

There's also Android: Netrunner, which will work especially well if you've got small boxes that you can store decks in separately. Ditto for Magic: The Gathering if one of you already knows how to play.

Pandemic, Forbidden Island, and Forbidden Desert come in somewhat larger boxes, but are still on the small-ish side, and cooperative games are always great for bonding.

Last, but not least, there's Gauntlet of Fools and Diamant, if push your luck games are your thing.

Take a look at the Kosmos two-player series. Lots of options there.

Zen Garden is another one to look at. Play the base version a couple of times to learn the rules, then move to the Rock Garden version - that's the real game.

Archaeology: The Card Game, Coloretto, Batt'l Kha'os, Fzzzt!, Hanabi, Plato 3000, To Court the King are worth taking a look at as well.

Good luck!

I'd recommend Archaeology: The Card Game. Very tiny box, just like Hanabi mentioned above.

So many great recommendations.

One more to add, if you can find a retail version Decktet deck or even make yourself one if you have the time, you can play a game called Magnate.

It's a great game for only 2p, it has dice (you need 2 d10), and plays around 30-40mins.

Check it out!

I dunno, we really enjoy Love Letter with two - plus, you can play with up to four if the opportunity arises.

Battle Line is also great, possibly my favourite 2 player game.

Hey That's My Fish is brilliant with 2, 3 or 4 and also comes in a very small version.

Have fun!

Hive (but be sure the version you get is Hive Pocket, which is much smaller and comes with the first 2 expansions). Hive is great for wet, windy or dirty places because all of the pieces are bakelite. We've been known to play it in a swimming pool.

Decktet - As small and portable as a traditional deck of cards, with many differnt games you can play.

For portability you can't beat Traditional Card Games and traditional dice games (like Mia) though it's hard to find good 2 player dice games.

RR and BraveRats are both fun, very small but very, very quick games. You'd need to buy them direct from their designer, Seiji Kanai.
