Since Caylus 2nd Edition is on its way, has anyone heard how to get replacement coins if you bought the 1st edition?

That's weird. This bit used to mention Shire Games, and tell you all how wonderful we are. But it seems to have got deleted. Let's see what happens this time ....

Use poker chips! I heard the jeweler tile (gold->vp) will be available as a separate free item.

I remember seeing a thread recently (but can't find it now) that seemed to say that the Jeweller had been included in the latest (RGG?) version.

Well I bought my 1st edition from Games Lore (in the UK) and I emailed them. They sent me my shiny new coins 1st class for free. Top service!

1) I have seen the Caylus 2nd Edition and it does indeed include the Jeweler tile which was given out at Essen. I'd love to get a copy of this tile (not printed out from the Internet) if anyone has any ideas on how to go about doing this. The 2nd Edition also had some improved building tiles, especially the green residences and the stone production buildings, I guess I should have waited.. although I have enjoyed playing it a lot in the meantime, so it's a tradeoff.

2) I e-mailed Thought Hammer to ask about getting the replacement coins for my 1st Edition copy that I purchased from them, and got the following responses:

Hello Thomas,

I am guessing that you will need to contact Ystari directly. We order our
copies of Caylus from RGG, so just in case, I have sent an inquiry to
them. I will let you know what they say, but they probably do not have an
extra stash of the coins.

To get them directly from Ystari, you would need to send a self-addressed
stamped return envelope size 16*25 cm minimum), which you would address to
Ystari, 52 bd Jean Allemane 95100 Argenteuil. Using Google's conversion
feature, 16 x 25 cm = 6.3 in x 9.8 in. You would need to contact them to
find out what the international postage would be, because I could only
find the postage for customers in their country.

I cannot find a way to contact them on their website. I tried to post a
question to the forum, but it is rejecting my post. I will ask RGG if they
have contact info for Ystari.

Thank you for your continued business and we hope to have news for you soon.

Hello Thomas,

If I had waited a few moments before replying to your email...

RGG has just let us know that they will have these replacement pieces
available on their site in the near future. However, they will not be free
(I assume to make up for the international postage to get them here, and
postage to send to the customer). I have no idea what they will be
charging, or if they will do something similar as with the Power Plant 29
card of Power Grid (donations for a charity).

So, I guess keep an eye on the RGG website. And if you can find a way to
contact Ystari directly, you can see how much it will cost for the
international mailings.

Again, thank you and I hope I was of some help!

The cardboard coins are nothing special in the second edition.
Use poker chips!

I've used poker chips and the problem is they are just too big. People (including myself) have a tendency to put the chip under their worker, and drop them on the castle in the same movement as placing the worker itself.

Anyone know of a source for mini clay (or clay/plastic combo) poker chips? The small cheesy ones such as you get with Boomtown just don't cut it.
