This variant allows players to play the two extremes of Clash of Cultures: a peaceful game of building and advancement (good for players who don't want to see their plans disrupted); or an aggressive game of war and conquest (good for players who know what is best in life).

Before the game, players decide whether they will play Peace or War.

If playing Peace, only the top objective on Objective cards can be completed.

If playing war, only the bottom objective on Objective cards can be completed.

An interesting idea, but the option of choosing one of the objectives in the normal game make the objective cards much less random. Forcing one to only go with one means that many objectives will probably not be fulfilled and be more random.

Quick thought: have players draw 2 cards instead of 1, but only keep one. Something similar at the beginning of the game for starting cards.

A clunky fix, but should theoretically work to fix the balance problem.

After many games that have been mostly peaceful (with wars being too expensive and all), I'd love to try the war variant
