I believe only the Japanese version is out of this game and reviews are that its made of thin recycled material, like R-Eco was, which got me thinking can you play the new game with the cards from the original? And the answer is yes.

I have the German version by Amigo (because I preferred the all-card version over the tokens of Zman's), and you can do it.

To play you need from your copy of R-Eco
• 56 Garbage cards, 14 in each colour
(Just take 14 value 1 if each suite from your copy)
• 4 Dump sites 1 for each suit (with +2 on each)
(Use the 2 value factory cards)
• 4 contract cards
(Use the 0 value factory cards)
• 12 Reward cards 3 of each colour
(Use the 3 and 5 value cards, then you need one for the 7 points, I used the 1, and noted if faced down when scored they are –3 points)

You then need
• 1 Environmental Protection Manager card
• 3 bonus cards - front side showing +3 points, back side showing –3 points

I just used a pawn from another game and 3 cardboard discs just to make it playable.

Playing it with gamers we managed okay, though it might be a case of making up some proper cards (at a minimum for the 7 points and the +3/-3 bonus cards) to stick in the R-Eco box for easier replayability.
