I know this is an obscure game, but does anyone want to play by forum?

It's not the same as playing face-to-face, but I'm currently doing a forum game of Galactic Empires (see those forums) and it's actually quite a bit of fun.

And the nice thing is you can leave your board set up and walk away if you have other commitments. Playing a turn or three each day is a great way to work a little fun into a busy schedule.

PM me or reply here. Thanks!

Here's an example of a combat exchange:
Challenger Knight 2d6 = (3 + 1) = 4
Challenged Knight 2d6 = (2 + 6) = 8

(p.s. I tried to use the Preview button to see if one could cheat and see the outcome of the rolls before posting. All it says is "pahoota rolls 2d6". So it is cheat-proof!)

As you can see, with reaction type cards like Spells and Combat Actions, each combat exchange will go quite slow.

But with forum play there's always an electronic record so the game can proceed at a nice leisurely pace.

Okay,
Let me dig out my game and reread the rules etc. When I played I used a common deck for challenges. My pictures are in the games data base the last time I played this was some years ago.

Are we going to build our own deck?

I looked at the Galactic Empires games and was wondering how does the card art get into the forum? Would we need to scan all the cards we are going to play?

No problem; I've never played before so we're at similar experience levels.

Yes, I think we should build our own decks, both Court and Quest decks, and play the rules as written, especially since this is the first game.

Well, the card art for the Galactic Empires games comes from a third-party server that we just linked to. Unfortunately no such list exists for QftG (that I'm aware of).

I'm not sure if it would violate the BGG rules if we posted card scans direct to the forum or our personal galleries. If so, I have a blog we could use as an off-site repository for images.

I'm trying to finish cataloging my cards and then I'll build a deck. Should have it soon.

Both hit with a 14.
Quest Knight does a mortal wound to Sir Blamore and defeats him.

Black knight has 3 damage to his endurance of 7 and remains a quest in play and the damage goes away at the end of the phase

Well I had a good look at my card collection today and will have a deck built by tomorrow noonish. I wonder if we should add a quest card as suggested in the rules at the end of each player turn? I like the notion of a variety of quests available. What do you think?

We will also need to have a format for calling out a cards stats. I tried to show that in my test examples.

I am wondering if we can get any other players.

If we end up starting to play tomorrow and can't find more players, than yeah, I'm fine with turning over an extra quest card each turn for variety.

I think your example format works fine. I was thinking of trying to scan my court and quest decks when they get built, but that will probably be too ambitious with my work schedule.

That would be great. With the exception of Star Trek: the Card Game by Fleer/Skybox, every CCG I've ever played is much better with more players.

I'll make my decks tonight. I plan on a 100 card court deck and a 30 card quest deck. In your experience does that sound about right?

This will be my first go at a live opponent. When I played before I was supplying all cards for all players so we used a common draw pile in the middle of the table and played with the whole collection.

Edit: Here is a web site you may be familiar with. It might serve as a reference for the cards if I use one you don't have or vice versa...

Ah, yes, I remember that site now. I used it to build a sortable excel list for all my cards, but then forgot where I found it. Thanks!

OK, my decks are built.

I'm going to go ahead and start a new thread here dedicated solely to the PbF game.

No problem! I'm just excited to finally get to play this game with other Arthurian fans. I just hope I can keep the ball rolling and not have to leave the game hanging due to my work schedule.
