I just received Imperial in a math trade and was surprised to find my copy contains more components than the manual says it should. For example, I have 10 red armies while the rulebook specifies 6. Is this common? A misprint? Should I exclude the extra 4 armies for proper gameplay?

It is unlikely to ever matter.

You are limited by the components, so it does matter. Red is supposed to have only six armies. Most colors have the same counts, but red has more ships and less armies, while yellow has more armies and less ships.

While true, it is rare that the limit ever comes into play. England is however quite likely to run out of ships in a significant portion of games.

Thanks, guys. I'll limit them, even if it won't matter. ;)
