Played through a couple of the PO scenarios at the weekend...
A question came up during M06...

Can you shoot through a cell door? We played that you couldn't as per the base rules...

In M06 you can get survivors behind the purple cell doors and amass zombies on the other side - if cell doors are just bars it seems logical that you would be able to shoot them though...

As far as I'm concerned, Zombicide is at its best after a few tweaks to non-thematic rules.

This would be a good question for inclusion in my big Prison Outbreak Questions for Guillotine Games thread...

In that scenario, they look like isolation cells and security doors, so not likely to be the barred type as seen in the cell blocks. However, as said before, play the way that makes sense in the moment.

Most modern prisons use solid security doors on their cells; "bar"-style cell doors are, in this day and age, primarily a Hollywood-ism and not something that's actually used in the real world.

So, no, barring a rule i missed that says otherwise, you can't shoot through them.

That said, Zombicide very much channels that Hollywood action movie vibe so it wouldn't be entirely thematically inappropriate to say that they are bar-style doors and you can shoot through them. Play how you want.

if you would consider the doors as being in bar-style then you would have another problem, namely that you would be able to see the contents of the cell before actually opening the door, ie you should then also spawn the zombies as soon as you can look into it.
it wouldnt be fair on the zombies as they cant move as long as the doors are still closed, while survivors can shoot them at will.

They could be hiding in/under the beds... like when you search and up pops a walker!
