On this post there's a power called Federalist. It gave me an idea for a new power. It works in the same design space (I guess), but does something completely different (I hope).

Havoc

You have the power to Cause Mayhem. As a main player, before encounter cards are selected, use this power. Each ally on each side may choose an attack card and play it face down. After encounter cards are revealed, each ally reveals his or her attack card. If both main players revealed attack cards, add each ally's attack card to his side's total. All cards revealed are discarded at the end of the encounter.

(Main Player Only) (Planning) (Mandatory)

Wild: As an ally, before encounter cards are selected, you may choose an attack card from your hand and play it face down. If both main players reveal an attack card, add your attack card to your side's total.
(Ally Only) (Planning / Reveal)

Super: When using your power you may prevent one ally from playing an attack card from his or her hand.
(Main Player Only) (Planning)

What do you think?

It seems like it turns your allies into a bunch of Cavalrys. I also wouldn't want to make it mandatory, since it affects both sides, and if you are already outnumbered by other players, you will probably lose in a big way (where you might have duked it out on your own before).

Edit: I do like the name Havoc better than Federalist in any case.

No, I said "oh, brother," not "go hover."

I sure wouldn't want to have this power when going for my fifth colony.

Also had the same reaction as Jack: it just turns everyone into Cavalry.

Even worse for me, though, this is what I call a "global rule on a card." A variant is in play, but one of us had to essentially give up having an alien power in order to pay for the variant. Feels like a non-power.

Helps your opponent just as much as it helps you; not a power.

Could be a fun hazard, actually.

There should be a Word Games Subdomain, or at least a Word Games Forum!

Even if it was optional - may use - you'd only use it when you have more allies than your opponent. And if that's the case, you were likely to win anyway.
