As the title says...can someone tell me what the differences are? Are they significant? Does anyone think 1st is better than 2nd?

Thanks!

I'll take Manhattan in a garbage bag. With Latin written on it that says "It's hard to give a shit these days"

IIRC, the main difference is that the second edition cards have significantly more colorful graphics.

There are also some rule changes, notably involving the Norse block, retreat rules, among others.

You can get the most recent rules from Columbia Games' website.

I think two Scottish block have some numbers changed. One block where the movement has gone from 2 to 3, and one block is now B3 instead of B2. Just changed them myself with a marker.

The map also looks a lot nicer. (Higher resolution, although one of the territories is missing a coat of arms, so it comes with a sticker to correct that.)

(If you're looking for the rules differences, the changes I saw are at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/77306)
