Happy Halloween! Check out my fan-made scenario "Rescue the Townsfolk." Let me know what you think:

RESCUE THE TOWNSFOLK

(AKA Feed the Townsfolk to the Zombies)

An Unofficial Scenario for Last Night on Earth by D-Meister Gamer

Turns: 17

Zombies: Zombie Horde (21), Zombies Auto spawn, Always Zombie Heroes

Heroes: Hero Starting cards (2), Free Search Markers, Heroes Replenish

The zombie plague has overrun the small town of Woodinvale and several of the townsfolk have gone missing. A few heroes have managed to escape the town and have hunkered down along with a few villagers in a safe camp just down the road. Villagers in the camp have been able to successfully identify who is dead and who maybe still alive, but missing somewhere in town. Frantic villagers have begged the heroes to go back into town on a search and rescue mission to recover more of the missing townsfolk. With darkness approaching and no help from the National Guard expected any time soon, the heroes have decided to grab what little supplies they have and make one last desperate attempt to bring back as many as possible to safety.

Scenario setup and Objectives:

1. Setup the board like normal. Only requirement is the road out of town has to be one of the “L” boards used.

2. All heroes begin the game in the center town square

3. Heroes must search to find the Townsfolk character cards

4. When a townsfolk card is drawn, the hero has a choice of playing the townsfolk card at that time or putting that townsfolk character on the board as being “found”. If the hero chooses to play the card, then the card is removed from the game and cannot be pulled from the discard pile. If the card is not played, then the townsfolk character is considered found and the corresponding townsfolk token is placed on the board under the hero who found them along with removing the corresponding townsfolk card from the game with no effect. This hero must now choose to escort and defend this character.

5. Heroes win by escorting four of the townsfolk to the road out of town before time runs out. Heroes only need to land on the road out of town with a townsfolk token under them within their move phase to get credit for the rescue. At that moment the townsfolk dashes out of town and into the safe camp.

6. Zombies win by preventing the heroes from achieving their goal

Special Rules regarding the Townsfolk:

The townsfolk token could be passed between heroes on the same space during the exchange items phase, but is never considered to be an item in any way. A townsfolk character could also be dropped at any time by a player during their move phase and picked up by a second hero during the move phase of the second hero’s turn. A hero could pick up and escort a townsfolk token while moving and still complete their move. A hero could only escort one townsfolk at a time. If more than one townsfolk are discovered during the same turn, the hero may pick which one he/she would like to defend. Townsfolk have only one wound space. If a hero takes a wound while escorting townsfolk he/she could choose to have the townsfolk take the wound instead which will kill the townsfolk character and remove it from the game. If a hero dies while escorting a townsfolk token, that townsfolk character is now left unprotected and needs to be picked up by someone else in order to move.

Townsfolk may not move at all on their own, they only move if they are escorted by a hero. If townsfolk are left unescorted by a hero, he/she could be attacked by any zombie. Zombie hunger does apply to unescorted townsfolk the same as it would apply to the heroes. Any hero may roll one fight dice for the townsfolk if they are unescorted and attacked. The townsfolk cannot ever kill a zombie and at best could only fend it off. The townsfolk losing the fight results in a wound being taken by the townsfolk in which case the townsfolk is immediately killed, eaten, and removed from the game. Townsfolk are not considered to be heroes in any way and no hero cards could be played on them. Zombies may only play fight cards on the townsfolk if they choose. Townsfolk never engage in any fights if they are being escorted by a hero, they only fight if they are left unprotected.

Nice mission. Have you tested it? Seems to be similar to a mission that comes with either the base game or Growing Hunger. Can't remember.

Yes, this was really designed to be a variant for the "Save the Townsfolk" (STTF) scenario in the base game. We found the idea for STTF to be really good, but the playability seemed a little dull compared to the others. So I figured we would spice it up a bit and came up with this idea.

We have ran through this scenario many times and it quickly grew to be one of our favorite scenarios. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
