I've been wanting to try some of the scenarios from http://www.spiffworld.com/sotm, and this one seems perfect for PBF.

The set-up:
Sitting around the Sentinel’s HQ, the heroes get into a friendly argument over who is the team's best blaster. Bunker, Ra, and Tempest (and Expatriette, if you're playing with her) each think they are the best in the group and each has their favorite story of how they took down a villain or goon at just the right moment to save the day. But of course, no one has any way to actually prove who is the best.

And then they receive the call. Citizen Dawn has taken over the Wagner Mars Base and has declared it to be the homeland for a new nation populated by her superpowered followers. Excited at the prospect of settling their argument once and for all, the heroes race to their rocket plane, declaring that this shootout on the Red Planet will finally show who is truly the best.

Win condition:
1) The heroes must defeat Citizen Dawn.

There are no other win conditions for this scenario beyond simply defeating the villian. However, each of the heroes is also participating in a contest to see who can rack up the most “points”.

A hero gets a point for every minion to which they deal the killing blow (i.e. their damage is responsible for sending the minion card to the villain trash). Damage done to a minion that does not result in that minion being sent to the villain trash doesn’t score the hero a point. The point is awarded to the hero who is doing the damage regardless of any boosts or help they receive for the attack from other heroes. For example, if Tempest deals 1 damage, which is boosted by 1 by Legacy, which makes it enough to send a minion to the trash, Tempest receives one point and Legacy receives none for the attack.

In addition to the points scored by taking out minions, whichever hero deals the final bit of damage to Citizen Dawn herself receives 5 points.

So, the heroes will be facing

at

as well as engaging in a little friendly competition. Once we get 4 or 5 players, I'll randomly determine player order and then, in order, each player can choose a hero.

In addition to those listed in the scenario, Chrono-Ranger and Omnitron-X would seem viable choices (I suppose O-X wants to learn about humans' competitive nature).

Who's interested? (Also, standard or advanced?)

Ooh, this sounds like fun. I'd participate in this, and Chrono-Ranger sounds like a fun character to try for something like this.

Since it's semi-competitive, it's probably best to keep it to standard difficulty for this one, although I'd have no objections with Advanced either.

Semi co-op. I think player death to greedy points grabs is very possible here. I love the fluff you set up. I'll give it a shot if you'll have me.

What about if damage is redirected to kill a minion? (Ex: Mr. Fixer or Nightmist, or Tachyon for that matter, can all redirect damage to a target of their choosing.)

When Spiff wrote this scenario, I think it was just the base game and Rook City (hence the mention of Expatriette). The idea is the players are blasters who are competing a la Legolas/Gimli from the LotR movies so they have to do the damage themselves. As the redirected damage comes from a different source, I would say it doesn't earn a point.

To keep with the spirit of the scenario though, I would vote that a player may not attack or redirect damage to another hero without that hero's consent. This would only apply to instances where a specific target is chosen; abilities that indiscriminately attack all targets (such as Haka's Rampage) are still fine.

I'm just trying to avoid a scenario where an overcompetitive player kills off another hero (or deals enough damage to Omnitron-X to destroy his Components) just to get rid of his competition.

Re: SotM PBF #22 - Red Planet Shootout
Looks like we have four. Here's the player/hero selection order:

phillosmaster 1d100 = (94) = 94
Putts 1d100 = (87) = 87
spbtc 1d100 = (53) = 53
grysqrl 1d100 = (50) = 50

I'm signing off for the evening, so everyone choose their hero.

And, just to emphasize, please NO deliberately targeting the other players. You're still superheroes (a.k.a. the good guys) trying to defeat the villain, not each other (except for possible bragging rights).

Re: SotM PBF #22 - Red Planet Shootout
Hmmm . . . I was really not sure what to do. I tend to prefer utility over pure offense, but that's not a great choice for the challenge. So I decided to let fate decide!

So, my SotMSidekick says Omnicron X! (Which might actually be a good choice if he can avoid too much damage.)

I'm indifferent to taking damage. Not super eager to, but happy to do so if needed.

I will discard Ranger's Mark.

Re: SotM PBF #22 - Red Planet Shootout
Being the most fragile and most susceptible to damage (all those fragile components!) I'd prefer to not take the fire damage. But I think I will - I don't have any of said components out yet, and I hope I can use the goodwill to avoid damage later when it will "hurt" more.

Discard Bio-engineering Beam

General table talk - My default power is Timeshift, which allows me to reveal the top card of a deck and put it into play or discard. If anyone has need of this, let me know. It's also useful for burning through villain decks (which may not be desirable because discarding Citizens pushes CD closer to god-mode), and for manipulating the environment deck. Environmental deck manipulation may be helpful because if I recall correctly WMB has some fire type cards that can be quite nice for both Ra and AZ.

I'll take the damage. I've got Summon Staff and Flesh Of The Sun God in my hand.

I'll discard Excavation since it will take a while before that is worth playing anyway.

I'll discard Frost-Bound Drain.

And I'll take a Timeshift whenever its available for a little while; I could use some help fishing for modules (I got that hand).
