I'm a teacher and I'm going to set up a board game club to run at lunchtimes. I hoped someone could recommend some games that would be suitable. The students will be 11-18 and we'll probably have about 45 minutes to play so can't have anything long and complex or anything that takes too long to set up. So far I've got:-

Castle Panic
Hey, that's my Fish
Love Letter
Monster Factory
Sleeping Queens
The aAMAZing Labyrinth
King of Tokyo

We've got a bit of money to spend so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I'd rather take Mascarade than Love Letter, just because it plays from 2-13 player, LL only 2-4.

I would also take Carvcassonne in consideration, maybe the new edition Carcassonne: South Seas.

Zooloretto is also nice, might be on teh border lengthwise.

Fast Flowing Forest Fellers and Fauna Pick-a-Dog and Pickominofit well in the time slot and garantue some fun.

For Sale is good.

Magic is great for that age and time frame.

RFTG is heavier but sets up fast and plays in that time.

We also play Dixit.

Don't forget about classics like Chess.

I've got a bit younger kids (9-14) with short attention inclination.

This works:
Jungle Speed
Pyramid
Blokus
(King of Tokyo)
Cash and Guns
Incan Tokyo gold
Dixit
Spot it
Pitchcar

sometimes with older kids who would persist:
Survive!
Forbidden Island
For Sale
Ticket to Ride

PS: Oops, a typo: Incan Gold (kids love it as they need no effort to get cash9

Wow, thanks guys. Lots of food for thought. Fauna looks good and I've got my eye on Forbidden Island - can that be done in 45 mins?

Depends what kind of situation you have and what kind of kids. I get them in their leisure time and they're not there to think, so I'd need probably more than 45 minutes with rules explanation. If kids are disciplined and listen to rules, probably doable - if you don't have to do rules explanation then no problem.

If you have a situation where kids come and go, then I think FI needs a bit more focus and I'd recommend simpler to get into games (and maybe those that look more attractive):
Incan Gold
Pyramid
Jungle speed or spot it
dixit as well (mainly it was the girls who liked it)

Great list of games already posted. And I will second the 10 days series.

I will add one more, Bohnanza. Also, most of the dice games would probably work well, plus they would hold up to abuse.
