If DVG thinks they can make money off it, sure. If they think HL:CC is a success and the market won't get saturated by another Cthulhu expansion maybe we'll see one.

Personally, I'd much prefer an expansion based in reality, not a fantasy mythos. Different terrain types, events, special conditions, maybe some new enemies, campaigns, and situations. Also the inclusion of friendly forces on the tactical (hex) map. That way you could do real close support missions or escort a moving armored column through hostile country.

That's my preference.

Both types of expansions would be great. Actual close air support would be very cool.

I agree with you. I'll get any expansion for TAL as long as it will stay in reality and your mission suggestions are good as well.

For me, Hornet Leader Cthulhu expansion was an Instant buy.

Without beginning a political debate, for my taste, modern conflict games makes me sometimes unconfortable. In videogames and solitaire games, it seems to me that the enemy is too often the "non occidental" forces : so with Cthulhu forces, I am happy to play with planes and missiles without always attacking the Irakians, Vietnamese, Coreans, etc...

But for the next expansion of TAL, I propose something a little different : a war against Kaiju forces !!! We could have new japanese forces planes and choppers attacks the likes of Godzilla (kind of mobile Ground to Air units), Mothra (kind of Air to Air units), and others... The terrain tiles could include some building tiles (which necessites you to fly in high altitude). Of course, the monsters would not be Godzilla as such, because it is known that the big G can not be killed, but some other monsters less powerful...

I've really got no interest in a fantasy or pop culture type theme for games in the Leader series. It doesn't do anything for me personally.

I'm not trying to go political here, but as far as representing "non occidental" forces, what would we get by appeasing that idea? The US military is the largest in the world; that gives the designer and player many more types of equipment and gear to represent and play with in the game. You can also realistically pit the US forces against nearly any nation or locale on the planet because the US has the ability to be almost anywhere. If we represent a non-occidental force are options are much more limited. The Chinese, Japanese, and Indians for example, would be a lot of fun though they'd be limited to more regional wars with their neighbors or the US. As far as the smaller non-occidental nations, and I'm thinking primarily South America, Africa, the Middle East, and some other nations in Asia, I don't think we'd get much of a playable game, at least on the scope of the current Leader games.

We've had U-Boat Leader featuring the WWII Germans and may have within a year or so Israelis in the mix. I'd love to see expansions for current games or stand alone games focusing on European/Australian forces, the Russian Federation, China, the Koreas, Japan, maybe even the Indian and Pakistani theater.

Ultimately I think the biggest impediment for these types of games is what the market will dictate as economically feasible. Where is the biggest share of the market for these types of games? Likely among US players although there are fans and players worldwide. While non-US players are currently limited to fighting (for the most part) American wars so far, would they (and Americans interested in the other national powers) have enough financial clout to make it a viable venture for DVG? I would love to see expansion representing those areas, I just doubt it would be economically viable.

While I'm not trying to denigrate your personal comfort level with games focusing on an occidental point of view Detective Conan, I'm sure you're aware that for their part DVG has demonstrated a willingness to create products focusing on non-US conflicts or with the US as the enemy (Field Commander: Rommel). I think this shows that they'll pursue projects that they're confident will make them money and use race/nationality as the driving force in developing their products.

Whatever paths they pursue, I wish them success, even if it is with fantasy expansions to my "realism" based war games.

Just have Canada as the bad guys in the next expansion. We don't mind, as long as it makes someone happy, we'll do it =)

The more I think about this, the more I like it. You should suggest it to DVG.

It might be interesting for someone to do a North Ameritrash game from the ground up... Canadian Royal Mounted Police with all manner of artillery attached directly to the horses (steampunk, you know...), lumberjacks with those fancy chainsaw RPGs which were pictured on the interwebs years ago en masse...

America would just get one grizzled Texas Ranger karate master with a bacon beard and eagle wings.

I'm not forgetting about Mexico here, but I don't want a cartel coming after me.
