Just got done documenting a game between myself and well.... myself, trying out two different strategies. Bear in mind that I was attempting two vastly different strategies, so in some areas there was not a lot of competition for placement spots (and possibly most importantly, gold labels). This was my 3rd play through of the game, and my scores improved in each one, and there is still some tweaking to do, but felt that I could share this as there are some interesting plays that go on.

The green player decided to focus on pumping out hops infused ale while the blue player chose to focus on imperial stout / barrel aged beers. The green player started. I am going to keep things by player, be aware that it alternates.

Gold Labels: Green - 3 (pumpkin); Blue - 12 (both porters/stouts)
Loans: Green - -11; Blue - 0

Final Tally: Green: 66; Blue: 73

Final Thoughts
The margin of victory can be looked at as a combination of two things from the gameplay. The first was the number of loans taken by the second player, but even more importantly was that there was no competition for the gold labels. In my previous run through my ale strategy won because I was focusing on it, and this game I paid more attention to planning the stout player. Almost half of the brewed beer points came from Imperial Stouts, at a whopping 7 points per.

The game is fun, and offers a variety of strategies even using the simple setup. I look forward to playing more and trying out different techniques and different player numbers, as well as adding in the other skilled workers and beer formulas.

John, absolutely amazing recap of the game! Glad you enjoyed it! Just want to make sure that you remembered to take any free ingredients that come with certain building/equipment installs (farm, hops infusers, mash tun, oak barrelhouse, etc). I'm sure you did, you probably just didn't document that detail here.
Cheers!
Ben

John, your Blue player had an operating cost of 14 at the end of year 2, so he must have had an operating cost of more than 10 at the end of year 3. Maybe you forgot to count the operating costs for your brewery shifts? Looks like blue needed to take some loans at the end of year 3, which would make the final score even closer!

It looks like I messed up both the second year and third year. And that Blue had an operating cost of 15 in each. (And yes, I forgot the brewery shifts in the final year). This would give blue 4 loans and -11 points.

I took most of them. Did not realize you got something with the farm, that would help out the ale strategy get those fruit for the special ales I needed so badly.

Yep, make sure to look closely at the description for the farm. You receive 1 free hops or fruit (your choice), when you install it.

And so if you take 11 points away from Blue due to those loans, then its a really close game, 73 to 66? Awesome!
