I am looking to add some board games to my collection that have a fairly short playing time. I am talking between 20-30 minutes tops. A couple games we have and enjoy that fit this category are Aton and Lost Cities. Any other suggestions?

Do an advanced search with playing time < 30 minutes, then sort the results by game rank or rating. You'll see what people like. I'm a big fan of Battle Line

There are plenty of "card" games in this category. But "board" games? Here's a few that I can think of.

TransAmerica
Cartagena
Trains and Stations
Taluva

Thanks for the tip. I am fairly new to BGG and was not aware of the advance search function.

I´m thinking in King & Assassins, Mr. Jack (any of its flavors), King of Tokyo, Keyflower (it doesn´t take too much time for two players), Revolver 2 and Infiltration (although both of them take a little more than a half an hour).

You might like Gauntlet of Fools but definitely do some research into it. If you know your gaming group well enough, you'll be able to tell if its a good fit after 1 or 2 video playthroughs.

Its not really a game you play with new people all the time. It rewards repeat plays with the same people who understand what's going on. That in itself is a tall order given the game's brevity and lightness - explains why it hasn't had much commercial success.

Cheers!

Farmageddon?
30 min if players know how to play; it is fairly light, and the rules are quite simple.

...and another one that I remembered just now: Callisto: The Game.

The game's description says 20 minutes; with 4 players you should play 4 games rotating the first player, I believe this can be done in 30 minutes, but maybe 40 is more like it.

Qwixx was a SDJ nominee last year. Teach it on 5. Play it in 20.

One of my favorite games that fit that time frame is Ra: The Dice Game. People have told me they have had experiences with this gaming going 90 minutes or more. But I have never had a game last that long. 2 player games typically take us about 15 to 20 minutes. 3 players takes about 30. My 4 player games, which is the max number of players, takes about 45.

Another good one is Zooloretto: The Dice Game. This one never goes over 20 minutes.

I hear that Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small is a fun board game with a 30 minute playing time.

Today, my wife and I just played a nice game of Balloon Cup (now Piñata) in about 25-30 minutes. Jaipur is another good one at 30 minutes.

+1 Battle Line

Thanks everyone, I am getting lots of good ideas! I definitely want to check out Transamerica and All creatures big and small. I need to look up a few others on here that I am not familiar with.

I think Biblios, Machi Koro and Rapa Nui could be done in 30mins (for 3 players) if all players are familiar with the game. With 4, the time frame could stretch slightly (about 35-40mins).

+1 for Qwixx.

A few more:

Indigo
Santiago
Atacama
No Thanks! (a card rather than a board game, but hey ho)
Hive
Eight-Minute Empire and its sequal, Legends
Escape (10 mins; though you probably won't be able stop after one!)
Sobek

There are lots!

Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age usually fits in about that time frame.
