How many times are you looking for it to show up? Once? Twice? Or as long as it shows up at least once?

1-(2/3)^4=80.25%

1-(5/6)^4=51.77%

Edit: To clarify, these are the probabilities for at least one hit in these 4 tries.

Thanks for the responses. I just wanted to know the chances of it showing up once.

If *just* one hit, wouldn't it be...

2/6 * 4/6 * 4/6 * 4/6 = 9.9%

1/6 * 5/6 * 5/6 * 5/6 = 9.6%

Is my math really that rusty?

you need to multiply each of those by 4.

Excel spreadsheet software allows such questions to be modelled quite simply. Worth considering if you have these questions regularly...
