Now that the latest KS is almost shipped let's speculate a little.

Could the polish be next with some early war action? How about the Russians on the Eastern front.

The polish troops would be awesome. Cavalry would look incredible and could still use the same terrain tiles unlike anything in the Pacific. FAA already has a full line of Polish troops and I don't really think this theatre has been done as much as others giving it a unique perspective.

The Russians would likely have expensive leaders and lots of 1 and 2 pt soldiers armed mostly with rifles. Also uses the same European terrain tiles so those would be fine too. Although well used in most games, people being familiar with them would probably lend them to selling well.

Instead of either maybe they go really crazy with Romanians or Finns?

How about Italy to give us Sicily and the Mediternean. It would require now terrain but be another very cool theatre.

OK Discuss.................

Paul, you're not good for my hypertension. I personally hope we don't see another Nation for multiple years. Maybe I'm just crazy though.

Well I am always happy to speculate. I would guess that LBG will flesh out what they have now first. So we should see Medics, Snipers, Officers, Mortars, Maybe Armor, and Radio men for the US, Brits, and Germans.

When they do open up to another nation I would guess it will be Japan or Russia. I wonder where the market is? You always have to keep an eye on what sells.

They could also bring in a different theater and do an Africa campaign or an Italian one.

Jeff, lay off the Starbucks or Mountain Dews...there's still a good year or so left in expanding SMG as it currently is. Although I could buy in to Russian front or African campaign stuff...not to keen on island hopping in the Pacific though shake

Personally, I'd prefer to keep things in NW Europe to make full use of the collection I have. Market-Garden anyone?

Market Garden is a good one...and the list goes on. While the system can lend itself to other theaters of the war...I think that concentrating on the current core area is probably the best right now going forward. Just because you can push minis for other fronts doesn't make the game any better at this point.

^ I assume that is exactly their plan. It is fun to think of where it might go one day though. Especially since we are all waiting for UPS (or whomever) to knock on the door.

Hopefully they abandon WW2 and move on to 1950s or later stuff.

I have heard some various whispers from people but nothing concrete. We saw tanks and AT guns at Historicon during the company game. Not sure where they stand with the development of that. There was also the off board artillery rules that were being developed at that time too. Of course my squad was wiped out but friendly fire...surprise

Personally I would say keep things in Europe for a bit. British commando raids, standard US Army troops (this game begs for some Combat! type games), and even Italy could be incorporated fairly easy.

A Russian expansion or Pacific would be great but I have a feeling special rules are going to have to be added. Things like fanatical nature of troops and weather all played a big part of things. Can you say Russian winter?

I want to be able to enjoy what I have before investing more money into this great game. Savor it and enjoy it.

I predict the East Front after Normandy, then the Pacific.

Hopefully the good folks at LBG will get some R&R as Red Devils gets incorporated into their inventory.

I am looking forward to the roster system coming online and the opportunity to send some troops to training.

Custom US Sergeants will be nice as will the US version of the German fusiliers that were mentioned at the same time. Adding additional support options for the squad, mortars, HMGs, radios additional specialist like medics and engineers. I can see staying in Europe for a bit, maybe expanding to other troop type’s “panzer grenadiers” anyone? More X-Terrain, possibly ruined buildings would be nice, (I can already see the troops fighting over a partially destroyed village).

As it is I suspect that I will spend most of next year fighting over Pegasus Bridge and its environs.

If we must move to another theater, I hear Afrika is nice this time of year.

I think they'll stay with Western Europe definitely, and that down the road perhaps some early war blitzkrieg of France action may appear? Same terrain after all...
I think the vehicles and AT guns are the big thing for next year, will they kick start them? That's the bigger question!!!

I could see some "Terrain Pack" releases where it's just a base set worth of map tiles with specific terrain such as mountain, desert or snow. Then have specific scenarios, possible terrain specific rules perhaps, maybe some special equipment cards, and of course story deck cards. They could do that without the extra expense of including soldiers, as the ones we have could work, particularly in mountain/snow. Though desert could use some new troops I suppose.

Market Garden would be cool.

I'm okay with adding vehicles and guns...might be pricey though whistle. I'd also like to see more X terrain buildings, including bombed out ones...I'm not that interested in more foxholes or bunkers though. There's years worth of stuff to do in northwest Europe, then Italy or Russian front would be neat and even Africa...not too interested in the Pacific theater shake

With what we have so far, Operation Market Garden is a pretty easy "next step". We have all the necessary players. Going back to last Christmas' surprise, they mentioned 3 more chapters to the Day of Days story line, Bois Du Chateau, Cherbourg Railway Station and Cherbourg Docks. This could bring in the urban fighting you would need for say Stalingrad. Let's not forget we have yet to see the 82nd with the Causeway story line.
But simply looking at what what currently have, to me, adding the Italians would then bring in the entire Mediterranean theater. Air Assault on Crete any one?

Operation Fustian...

Primosole Bridge... Red Devils vs Italians and Fallschirmjagers. A scrappy little fight that would be a nice intro in to the Med theater...
