If you're willing to take BART over to Oakland, there's a ground that meets at 'Endgame' on most Wednesdays at 7:00pm.

1st, 3rd, and (when one exists) 5th Sunday of every month from 10:00am to 5pm at Endgame in Oakland.

See http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/EastBayWargamers/info

Disclaimer - I only recently signed up for this group and have yet to actually attend any of these.

I recently signed up as well and made it one Sunday in August (the last couple of months have been crazy and I haven't been able to make it againg but am committed to making a December Sunday!). It is a nice set up and the group has a number of folks who are willing to teach.

I'm a semi-regular at the 1st & 3rd Sunday game days at Endgame. Great gang of players with a good mix of recent converts to wargaming and some grognards. Seems like multi-player CDG are dominate now but there's always a partner for some good old hex and counter war games. Sign up on the yahoo list to match up with a player or join in a multi-player game. They also have a broader "Boardgames" night on Wednesday which usually brings out 4-6 wargamers.

There are a bunch of San Fransisco Wargamers out there.

If you are interested in going to San Jose there are several other groups to play with.

There is a lot of activity down at GameKastle as well.

I have not gamed with any of the chaps myself but there is often a game setup down there.

I'm in Inner Richmond, so I'd like to keep the traveling down to around 30-min, but it's great to know what's available!
