******************************************

This is Event 2.09: 3p Vikings

Spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AoYE2bGf--iMdDd...

*******************************************************

Sign-up Information

a) Sign-ups: Open through about December 1, give or take a few days, and the tournament will begin immediately at that time. To enter the event simply post to this thread with your yucata username (if different from your BGG username) and subscribe to this thread to receive updates about the tournament as it progresses.

b) Format: This will be a round robin (all-play-all) tournament of 3-player games. The exact format will depend on the number of entrants, and will be clarified when the field is set and the tournament begins. Generally speaking, in the first round of the tournament you will play a number of 3p games, in batches of 3-5 games at a time, against a wide variety of players, and you will earn one point for each opponent you defeat. There may be as many as three distinct rounds of the tournament, with fewer players qualifying for each phase. Altogether, the tournament might take as long as 4-6 months to conclude.

c) Variant: Preliminary rounds will be Basic Rules, subsequent rounds will include Progress Tiles.
************************************************

Player Expectations - Please Read If You Are New to YPS

Everyone is absolutely welcome to play! Please do keep in mind that these tournaments are run primarily by the players and replacing players who drop out or disappear mid-tournament is quite disruptive due to the multiplayer nature of the games. To keep the tournament moving along and make sure it doesn't take all year to conclude, I hope that everyone who signs up will agree to do the following:

a) Play through at least the first phase of the tournament, which will include about 10 games and will probably take about 2 months.

b) Make moves about once a day, in general. If you are only on five days a week, or will take one vacation for a week, that is totally fine.

c) Create and accept invitations and update the tournament spreadsheet with results in a punctual manner.

d) Read all missives from the TO and respond when appropriate. Make sure you subscribe to the tournament thread to keep udpated on tournament news.

e) Report any problems/issues promptly to the TO directly or this thread. These might include a mistake in your yucata name, a need to be away from yucata for a period, another player who is not making moves, a yucata glitch affecting your game, an incorrect invitation, etc.

Please post here with questions/comments/feedback, and please sign up if you like! Also please thumb this thread to help publicize.

Poll
How do you feel about PROGRESS TILES? If we use them at all, we would only do so for semifinal rounds and beyond, not for preliminary rounds.
Definitely would like to use Progress Tiles
Definitely would like to play without Progress Tiles
Fine either way

Now there's a question. Since I'm rubbish at Progress, I should vote for vanilla Vikings, but I'd prefer Progress, to be honest, since the practice (of getting beaten hollow) would do me good.

Either way, I'm in.
