We have taken that to mean cards such as Cracking the Whip can be used multiple times on Acer.
Batiatus' house ability allows him to exhaust 2 gladiators to gain 2 gold. Suppose Batiatus has his 3 starting gladiators and then buys Acer. Does that mean he can now use his house ability 3 times? Each time with 1 starter + Acer, net result being the 3 starters are exhausted, Batiatus gains 6 gold and Acer is still ready?
If this is true then Acer is by far the most valuable card for Batiatus, suddenly making him from below average to super strong. Last night we had a 6 player game where Batiatus acquired Acer in turn 2 and continued to collect the cheap gladiators. By end game he had 8 gladiators (7 + Acer) so he could potentially make 14 gold with Batiatus' ability per turn (Actually only 12 gold because he left Zephyros ready to fight so it was 6 + Acer).
Laptop is resistant to the tummy aches from bad wine for sure. But he can't be exhausted which means you can't crack the whip on him because that requires an exhaust which is not possible with him. It's not like he exhausts and immediately unexhausts. He merely never exhausts in the first place - hence crack the whip doesn't work.
