I was anxious to receive this new expansion and I just received before the weekend so we were ready to try it. 6 players wanted to try the new maps so we decided to choose the Pennsylvania map since it seemed to be easier with more players. The new rules for this map are quite simple but it looks like we would have a very challenging game, specially with 6 players.

Set up was very special since the 6 players builded in the eastern part of the map. Marc-André took first build and was able to connect 4 cities. He was very proud of himself but he was disapointed later when 3 players blocked his way to the west. Every players tought they would be doomed if they would build in the west where they could not ship any black goods so the east was very crowded. Pierre was the only player that didn't ship goods for 2 income in first round but he choose a position that would pay him in the second round, near the black city of Baltimore. In the second round he urbanized Altoona and created a second black cube, so Pierre shipped 2 black goods for 3 income each that we double for this scenario, so total 12 income for the second round ! During the time the other players were struggling to get out for west Pierre was able to ship many black goods. The cost for mountains is very high but it's rewarding.

Even if most of the players had a very tough time, they liked this scenario and everybody wanted to try it soon to explit new strategies and to revenge on Pierre who humiliated them. Black cubes are very important and essential if you want to win. We're not sure yet if there is a winning start up position but we'll see in our next games on this map. Our favorite maps are the toughest ones and Pennsylvania is our kind of map. Thanks Ted.
