I already own Homesteaders and Kingsburg. But what else is available?

Caveat: I have no interest in Puerto Rico or Ginkgopolis. Played them both; didn't care much for them.

Do you mean games where you build tableaus or games were you have a tableua for buldings?

In any case, does Innovation count: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/63888/innovation

You might also check out Glory to Rome:

Good call. I was thinking more along the lines of Homesteaders. As in, I have a number (big or small) of options, and my engine will work a certain way depending on how I construct my tableaux.

Also, I don't mean to shoot you down, but I didn't like Innovation either (forgot about that one). Seemed a little too chaotic/swingy for my tastes.

If there are any "board" games, not simply card games, that would be preferable. But, not trying to be too picky, I'll look into whatever recommendations I get.

Cuba comes to mind.
What about Antiquity? Has a tableau and a main board.

Wondering if London (first edition) could be an option.

I know you're not a fan of card games, but if you haven't tried Glory to Rome then you owe it to yourself to check it out.

On the lighter side, Peloponnes is somewhat of a forgotten gem that plays in less than an hour.

I know you said you didn't like Puerto Rico, but Race for the Galaxy is a great tableaux-builder that I felt was distanced enough from Puerto Rico which inspired it.

Endeavor
Le Havre (sort of? - your tableau is not exclusive to other players)

Guildhall or Guildhall: Job Faire (though really just a card game)

Seasons (mostly cards)

At the Gates of Loyang may scratch that itch. The shifting setup of customers, markets, and helpers is a lot of fun.

tableau building works similar as in Kingsburg, but better. you don't have a fixed layout of buildings available each game the same, but they come into play during geame. Also it is combined with a space management on your board.

Rapa Nui
tableaubuilding/card drafting with two very unique scoring mechanisms.

I think Macao may be my favorite. It's a boardgame that involves more than tableau building but that is certainly a core aspect of the game.

I second the recommandations for London (first edition), 7 Wonders, Seasons, and Race for the Galaxy.

Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization is AMAZING, but it is a beast of a game.

Unfortunately, Glory to Rome is out of print, but you should check out Uchronia, and Innovation which are both by the same designer as Rome.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned San Juan, and Citadels. These are both great games even though they are a bit older.
