This isn't a complaint, because I honestly don't know if it is normal or not. Maybe it's just my cook's brain associating things oddly. Has anyone else noticed a distinctly 'yeast' smell while punching out their counters? I imagine it could be from dies, glues, or laminates involved in the process. It just kept popping up as I sat gleefully punching out the tends of pounds of counters.

No smell in my copy. I've had mine a couple weeks now. I did leave it out for several days to dry out. Always a good idea since there can be moisture in the chipboard. Another reason putting weights on the maps the first night you unpack is a good idea.

I've been around dozens of opened games and not noticed any strange smells.

No smell here.

If you smell the counters and constructables now do you smell it?

Have we considered phantosmia?

I hope this doesn't bode ill for my copy. I will keep tabs on it. It is likely just me. I do have a fairly redic sense of smell

I hope I hear back about the actual damages though. I figure they're busy shipping still.

I did notice an odor in mine, but I would describe it more like a paint smell than yeast. I just attributed it to "new game smell" and moved on.

It may be opening the oil-soaked 3A action figures that has desensitized me to strange smells. (That's a bit of an exaggeration, but the company heavily-weathers their action figures and some of them come through smelling quite strong. Example: http://www.battlegrip.com/?p=54968 And yes, I am a toy geek as well as a game geek.)
