Subject: Best builds using at least one ship from each wave? rss

Got asked this question yesterday and at first I laughed and went, easy its this etc etc etc. Except it isnt that easy. Most people build around what works well on the mat not by wave.
So BBG whats the best builds out there, both terrorist and legit government using ships from each wave?
This outta prove very interesting I hope, plus give my bud some ideas!

The guy who likes the rebel convoy could build it with an HWK replacing a Y-wing.

But do they have to fight any list, or just other mildly gimped lists?

If the latter, A tie swarm with an Int and Bomb is still probably good . . .

I just made this list last night. It uses at least a ship (or two) from each wave. Have yet to try it out but I thought it would be an interesting Rebel swarm. 5 ships, no upgrades, exactly 100 points.

Roark Garnet (19)
Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
Prototype Pilot (17)
Rookie [x2] (42)

It puts 5 ships on the table and the b-wing or one of the x-wings will always get the first attack in the combat phase using Roark's ability, while the a-wing runs some interference. Though the low pilot skill may still be a problem here. Thoughts?

I love 5 ships but I hate the A-Wing and I hate the HWK without a turret. Still...five ships. That's a lot to worry about.

Can we take upgrades?

Roark + Turret = 24
Rookie = 21
Arvel Crynyd + Assault Missiles = 28
Dagger Squadron + Ion Cannon = 27

100 points.

I dunno about best, but for the last week of our local league, I've decided to go with one of each of the Rebel small bases. Which, co-incidently, include ships from all three waves:

Rookie
Gold with R2
Prototype
Blue
Rebel Op with Ion.

I'm sure that could be optimised, but it ought to be fun in any event!

A few I brainstormed:

6 TIE Swarm (99/100)

Howlrunner
Academy TIE x 2
Alpha Interceptor x 2
Scimitar x1 + Proton Bomb

Run Howl + Scimitar in rear, drop proton bomb after initial pass. 99 pts for initiative. If you lose initiative vs. 96-98 pt swarms, it's not all bad as this helps your Interceptors maneuverability options and your scimitar will have more info. for bomb placement.

Bounty Hunter Escort (99/100)

Bounty Hunter x 2
Omicron Group Pilot x 1
Academy TIE

I prefer more ships than less. A variant off of the triple bounty hunter list, lots of hp and staying power. 99 pts to help get initiative.
