And to expand on the Idea.
As I like to do.

Add 4 specialty unmarked cars to the game.
2 new car Tokens.
Each car gets a Special actions card.
With bonus actions that can be performed.
And come with penalties/of course.

+1 Move.
Jump a green emergency card.
Etc.
(add some more)

I know you probably already have K9 unit ideas.
It could be a little like or added to Duo Cops.
Make a K9 Dog character and have it riding with Someone's Character.

When you add K9s, you have to also aadd the Police card that allows them to arrest a punk without a die roll:

Quote:

Cynophobia
"Come out now or I will send the dog in. He will bite you."

When playing this card, one punk immediately surrenders

Just like here!

Quote:
Several announcements were given to the suspect to come out or the K-9 would be sent in. The suspect would not respond, K-9 did apprehend the suspect who was taken into custody by deputies without further incident.

The suspect was transported to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital in Racine where he was treated and released for minor puncture wounds to his left foot and lower leg.

Nice Cindy.
The article made me laugh.

I find it funny, but love the fact that every time I see a headline now I think of how it could relate to Police Precinct.

Since getting the game I've subscribed to the 24 Hour crime report around where I live. So it's crazy some times.
One is the Ann Arbor 24/hr
The other is the Detroit 24/hr

Both are (Terrible that it's real) but comical and crazy in another sense.

One of the great backers over on Kickstarter just commented something that I thought was very worthy of noting here in this thread.

(trying to corral the great ideas in the places where they can really make a difference).

Here is what they said...

"Once this project is through you should definitely consider making a "Miami Vice"-style expansion. One in which every bit and piece OOZES coolness (or what was thought to be cool in the 1980s) plus drugs and prostitution as themes. A new board with water on it (using motor boats maybe), lots of palm trees and a general Florida feel to it would also add to that."

I say...

"Cool idea!!!"

(I will also direct Bart's attention to this as it is very "Narc-ish" in nature.)

Keep 'em comin' everybody!

Thanks!

Other ideas:

1. Abduction (adult or child)
2. Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs
3. Active shooter situations
4. Riots

I know some of these are pretty serious, but they are mentioned for realism.

A LA Confidential themed version of the game, with all that great 1940s and 50 style film noir could be cool too

What about something loosely based on The Wire? I'd like to see a larger investigation board with more (but possibly smaller) evidence decks.

Perhaps two criminals would need to be caught to win. Most of the evidence decks would apply to only one of the perps, but one or two would be evidence against both. A Drug Lord and a Corrupt Politician, maybe? A Meth Chemist and a Business Owner? A Street Dealer and a Corrupt Pharmacist?

New Decks that apply to a single suspect:
Phone Taps
Asset Tracking
Accounting/Financial Forensics

New Decks that apply to both suspects:
Confidential Informants
Search Warrants

Sherlock Holmes and Watson with a steampunk-mobile
Murtaugh and Riggs with a Lethal weapon unmarked
Batman and Alfred (intel support) with specialty vehicle
Green Hornet and Kato with The Black Beauty

etc.

Don't forget Gunther Toody and Francis Muldoon

Will the cars have special abilities? Or give the officer(s) (ie: the player(s) special abilities?

I also like the idea of having more cards than you need. As someone mentioned above, you may only use 50 cards weather you have 60, 70, or 100. This keeps re-playability high so every game will be different and you can't anticipate events (again as someone stated, a certain card has not yet come out and the deck is nearly empty, the players can plan ahead)

What about just designating an official 'partner' for each Detective/Patrolman? When they are in the same location (or adjacent?), they would each get a special ability that they could use on their turn.

Moreland & McNulty
McClane & Powell
McClane & Carver
Turner & Hooch?

I like the Mob Boss idea. Why don't you add a new 'Gang' card that is a personality (like the murderer) who needs to be tracked down and arrested? It would show up like any other gang card, but would move around the board one space at a time and cause a particular type of havoc instead of having a static effect.

Ideas:
Mr. Bigg - Adds a thug as he drives past a Bad Hood
Robby McStealer - Every time Robby moves, roll a die. On a 1, a local business is robbed and the crime rate rises by one
The Crime Clown - At the end of the First Player's turn, the Crime Clown turns over an extra event card
Biker Lord - Biker Lord blocks the street he's currently driving on
Criminal Mastermind - Every turn, Criminal Mastermind returns a removed evidence card to it's original deck back into the game

The Mob Boss would move around the board one space at a time based on some simple logic until two (or one) players stop on his space and arrest him.

One thing missing for me in this game: challenged evidence or evidence not obtained by a warrant -- these are real situations that could easily be turned into an event that shuffles a piece of evidence back into the deck.

As for expansions, I love the idea of Miami Vice and LA Confidential. I'd also add a version for kidnapping, terrorism plots and political assassination.

How about a horror theme lets say a vampire is loose in the city and the cops have a special unit "Super Natural Tactics Unit" or something. Along with all the normal cop stuff they have to find evidence, track down the vamp and drive a stake through his heart.

You could have day and night turns (separate event decks) and during night turns the vamp could put cops in the hospital or worse, maybe the cop becomes a vampire.

The evidence should lead you to where the vamp sleeps during the day which is random every game.

Just a thought.

One great idea after another!

Hey Doc...

If you get your hands on a copy of Rioting Gangs, you will see something similar to your idea. It's called "Homicidal Maniac". He moves around, and you have to track him while blocking his escape paths, etc.

It was the Homicidal Maniac that inspired me.

I just like the ideas of Gang lieutenants being spawned due to thugs running amuck.

So far I think I've got all the stuff, but I sure would like to get my hands on that Naked Guy in Traffic.

Wait... that sounds just really wrong!
