I use several types of glue for different things, and I want to share/discuss the problems I have come across with different glues.

For resin to resin gluing--
Liquid Cement with Applicator
http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/liquid-cement-with-appli...

This product makes a good bond between the resin contacts and it actually melts the plastic some... so be careful about drippage.

Metal to Metal- Super glue Gel and Foam insulation
Super glue is a mess and it sticks to yur hands so be careful. A small piece of insulation between the contact points works really well as the insulation foam melts with the superglue and forms a bond.

I tried to find a pic of the foam but its a roll of pink foam you can use to stuff between a window/door and a wall. pretty cheap

My secret: Zip Kicker and any superglue (I prefer a thicker glue if I had a choice.), the zip kicker will instantly cure the superglue and I've used it for all my metal to metal bonds. Must have saved weeks of time waiting for glue to dry, also the speed really makes difficult to glue poses possible. (Don't have much experience with Resin models, none of that in my day.)

Just becareful because the reaction between the Zip Kicker and the glue is hyperthermic and you can give yourself a nasty burn if you're not careful.

I use superglue and an accelerator as well.

What glue would you recommend for mounting figures on clear acrylic bases such as this:

I need something that won't heat the base and make it smoky and opaque at the glue point.

Litko actually sells a glue for that purpose: http://www.litko.net/products/Craftics-%2333-Thick-Acrylic-C...

I used it for Dreadball minis that came with clear acrylic bases and it didn't bond very well with the resin (actually "restic") models, however for acrylic to acrylic it worked great. So I guess it depends on what material your figures are.. if they are plastic it might work better than the restic that Mantic uses, I've found it reacts differently to some glues.
