We're looking for a cooperative family game. We've been playing Settlers of Catan, Cosmic Encounters, Munchkin, & Merchants and Marauders, but these are all competitive, so we're looking for a co-op game to foster family harmony . Thinking about Lord of the Rings (the board game), but wondering what else is out there. Youngest is 11, but has been playing the above games, some of which are rated at 14+. TIA!

Escape: The Curse of the Temple
Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game
Flash Point: Fire Rescue
Pandemic

Listed in order of preference. (There is a dinky rule in Legendary about seeing who helped win the most... but ignore this... it's dumb and goes against the spirit of the game, especially if you are looking for more of a co-op game).

Lord of the Rings

- Great theme; beautiful art and excellent components.

- No traitors or other competitors in the group. It's everyone against the game. (Unless you introduce the Sauron expansion).

- As long as at least one player knows the rules, the entire group can play the game.

- Young children can play as equals. An 11 year old will have absolutely no problems with it.

Sentinels of the Multiverse

A coop card game that uses pre built decks, so easy to get going.

Forbidden Island

Shadows over Camelot

Forbidden Island is a light introduction to cooperative games. Both are very family games.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I'm having fun just checking them all out. We may still try the LoTR boardgame this time, but I'll look forward to playing several of these others in the future! Defenders of the Realm sounds good and might be the next.
