The only thing you need to remember is where you stored your creature(s), so when someone visits the location you can call them out on it if they don't announce that it's alive. This is hardly the driving mechanic of the game.

When you play a two player game, the memory is essential, because you can leave parts in some labs and grab them later. With more players, the parts mover faster and memory is not that necessary. Then, the strategy and planning are the tools for winning.

since you can't come back to a place you've been until someone else has been there, remembering where stuff is is only vaguely useful since chances are it won't be there when you come back... but a trap may be.
