I'm looking to get inspired to jump into a game of East Front II. Can any of you grognards recommend a readable, reliable, and reasonably comprehensive history of the conflict? I would prefer to avoid texts only a history professor could love. And NO fiction please. Something along the lines of Atkinson's liberation trilogy is the general level I'm looking for. Thx R
Not the newest book on the subject, and relies more on German than Soviet sources due to when it was written, but I've always felt Alan Clark's "Barbarossa" was a good, one-volume introduction to the East Front.
Thanks Gents! I checked out your recommendations and they all look like excellent choices. I pulled the trigger on a used copy of Titans (just $5 and change for a hard back from the Amazon marketplace).
