I played a few games and tried to find where the green trap tokens come in. They say to set them aside like the bananas and vines, but nothing I found spawns them. Does anyone know what they're used for?

Aren't those for Panthers? If you 'encounter' a Panther, your pawn is removed from the board & re-enters with a Panther trap...

Wulf Corbett has it correct. If you get attacked by a panther, you drop all your backpack items and remove your explorer from the board. You then get one of those green panther traps for your backpack. When you return to the jungle, you'll often be able to return to the spot of the encounter, trap the panther with that trap, and reclaim your dropped items.

If your expedition goes well and you can avoid a panther attack, you won't need any of those.
