Ho Ho Ho and Happy New Year!laugh

The next session of the Orleans Game Group will be held on Thursday January 2nd, 2014. Hopefully all will have recuperated by then! shake

Bring your new games ( Hopefully Santa was good to you ), or knock the dust off of some of your old ones! meeple

We usually start just after 6:30 and go 'til about 10:00pm.

The address is: The Canadian Legion, Branch 632 - Orleans, 800 Taylor Creek Road.

We meet upstairs. There is a bar and snacks and now hot food is also sometimes available so please don't bring in something from outside.

You should also bring $2.00 as a donation for the Legion.

Also, please thumb up this post to move it to the boardgamegeek front page to attract more gamers and tell your friends to come out and play!

Please note that hats are not allowed in the Legion and that one must dress and act respectfully.

You can see our schedule as well as other local gamers nights via the Ottawa Area Gamers Guild's Calendar on BGG - click here -> http://www.boardgamegeek.com/guild/199

We are also listed on the Ottawa Geek Social Club! http://www.meetup.com/ottawa-geek-social-club/events/

I've been informed to not make any plans for Thursday night surprise

There appears there might be a conflict between "my" game night and "our" family night. Or so my wife tells me...shake

So there is a chance I might not make it this Thursday angry

Keep your fingers crossed and I'll keep the whimpering volume turned up high devil

And maybe, just maybe I'll still make it, but it isn't looking good right now... soblue

I am going to try my best to come out tomorrow night. Definitely itching to get my game on.

I enjoyed last session's game of Alhambra and would not be adverse to playing that again.

Additionally, I will bring along my newly-punched copy of Carcassonne: Winter Edition (I can hear Jamie rolling his eyes and tut-tutting Z-Man).

Night started with just Cameron and I playing a couple games of Coup
We eventually expanded to 7 of us playing Zooloretto, Winter Carcasonne, Colosseum , and a couple games of Jungle Ascent.

I really liked Zooloretto! Thanks to Jamie for bringing it out so I could try it. Yet another game I now want to own. I particularly like how it amps up the basics of Coloretto (with the coin element), however as I mentioned after our game it definitely doesn't feel as mean-spirited as the card game.

Our wintery Carcassonne experience (that ended with an epic farming tie) was followed by the best game of Jungle Ascent I have played yet. Lots of clever and aggressive hazard play made for a real challenge. It is neat how quickly the direction of the game can shift and how reacting with what's in your hand is both satisfying and frustrating.

I won't be able to make it next week, but I am already looking forward to more gaming in two weeks!

Another nod for zooleretto! I'd like to play it again sometime having gone through the motions once. It looked like one of those games that's fairly straightforward but has a decent amount of strategy in it - and when those games play in under an hour that's the sweet spot.

James, Justin and I played Colosseum - which is really good but lacks some of its multiplayer zest with just 3 players. The James-Justin trade federation wrangled me into last place, with James taking down the victory by a not-inconsiderable margin. I'd be hesitant to run this again with less than 4, the extra bodies just help a lot with greasing the trade and bidding wheels, not to mention letting everyone see more tiles!

Sorry I missed it! Glad we had a respectable turnout!

No new games for Christmas but I did manage to get 12 Days in before the season finished

If anyone wants to play it "out of season" I could always bring it next week LOL. cool

See you all next week!
