I picked up
at B&N last weekend and they had a decent article on the 60's era Soviet Space program ideas for a Mars and Lunar mission.

They list some additional resources in the article and part II will be in the next issue.

I think it would be a cool idea to use that as a theme taking some of the ideas from the drawing boards in that era and turn it into a space race game to see who can get to the Moon, Mars and Beyond first.

Turns could cover years of development and you have to be the first in the decade to reach one of the goals.

That could make for an interesting retro/what-if version of High Frontier.

Ive have literally been thinking about this EXACT idea for the past 2 weeks! Im getting a degree in Astronautics and am a lover of Twilight Imperium and Eclipse. I do so much research on space topics and exploration and I think I could really put a great theme together like this. Im having trouble with the mechanics though, because I don't want to copy other games :|

Maybe sounds like Kerbal Space Program the Board Game.

I'd play it.

Also been thinking about a KSPTB... though my take was more of a workerplacement style build and launch game...
