After 2 plays I think we will always play it by auction 2 animals at the same time, otherwise it would just last too long for what it is. However, the rats and pedigrees seem not compatible with this variant since they are bid in a very different way. I have an idea that whenever a rat or pedigree card is turned over, that single card is bid immediately and then the next player proceeds until 2 animals(including the one turned off previously) are revealed, but we have not test it yet. Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance!

Your suggestion is how I play it! Seems to work fine.

Actually, sorry...reading your question more closely...it actually doesn't work, because the second card could be a pedigree or rat card, which leaves you in a bind.

We've been playing it this way: when a rat or pedigree is drawn in conjunction with a normal card, both are auctioned according to normal open auction rules.

Thanks for the reply, Max!

In fact if the 2nd card is still a pedigree or rat card, it is still bid immediately by their own bidding way. This shall proceed until there are two animals on the table. How does that sound?

I agree that your way does work, but it might loose the special bidding method for rats and pedigrees.
