Great game design makes the complex simple, replayability maximum, and abstraction credible.

It’s not how well you roll that counts but how well the dice suit the game.

I couldn’t see a table for exceeding test depth (9.6.4) in the current charts, so I made a modification to Chart E3 as below.

Unsure if anyone (Lines?) has a better idea how to do this and wants to update the charts in a different way?

Cheers.

Re: Exceed Test Depth Reminder
I also made this change to Table E1 to add the mechanism for Following.

This is quite an involved mechanic and I don’t think has been laid out anywhere in chart form.

Note the adjustment to the Additional Round of Combat and Gibraltar Charts to make room.

Note that the rules for following escorted undamaged ships not in a convoy are imo a little unclear even in the latest Jan 3 Living Rules.

I read them as assuming that if Following is successful, the ship (not part of a convoy) will still be under its original escort.

Remember that unescorted ships, damaged or not, can never be Followed.

Hmmmm, I have been playing that if you have multiple damaged ships you can only follow one of them, and the other passes out of the story.

Hard to imagine that both damaged ships would have the same reduced speed and be able to travel together.

See 9.7.6:

"When Following more than one damaged ship, on a roll of 1-4, the damaged ships stay together and are still considered under escort; normal combat rules apply (9.2, Conducting Ship Combat). On a 5-6, any damaged ships become an unescorted “straggler” and separate from one another. "

Nice work on those charts, Adam. What I did for Following mechanics (for those looking for them) is I placed them on the back cover of the rules...along with a few other sundry charts (such as optional variable escort/aircraft quality, starting Kommandant rank, etc.). But again, nice job on what you did there!

OMG! I forgot you did that John modest

I looked everywhere (well almost!) and as I’m no longer using the printed rulebook, that page got forgotten

Anyway, your words are too kind - what they need is a professional’s hand to hopefully make things way more “official”.

I won’t post those adjusted charts though - they're just for my personal use - but I hope it helps people see where they can add things for their own use too if desired.

Btw - want a nice side-effect of printing the game's officially revised charts in Australia? We use a different paper width to the US - A4 vs Letter. It means that when printed here we get slightly bigger charts for the eyes! cool

Here’s the graphics again should anyone desire to re-size and physically glue or cut n’ paste into their own charts.

Exceed Test Depth Chart:

Ship and Convoy Follow Attempt Chart - NOTE: I’ve re-jigged the Additional Round of Combat Chart again to increase the font size for this new chart. Some extra info has been added as well:

My only nitpick is that the die roll modifiers are now separated from the encounter chart columns that they affect. If you switched the placement of the die roll modifiers and the Ship and Convoy Follow Attempt Chart, this would address this issue. :)

John, when I can free up the necessary bandwidth, I'll investigate to see what I can possibly due in terms of chart layout and if there is a way to work in that information. I know the player aid card is chalk full already, so it may take a re-engineering effort of sorts. I'll just need to have sufficient time to give this proper consideration.
