Helloha,

Currently if I go to my geekmail and select 'settings' I get the 'whitescreen of possible anxiety' and can't make any amendments... nor see nuttin:

(Safari - latest)
(Scrolling moves the background but the white block stays put. Clicking in certain places within the white block will active the links that I can't see.)

Possibilities:
You're blocking geekdo-images.com
You're blocking geekdo-static.com
You're running Safari whistle

It's a pretty white screen to begin with, though. (I use FF.)

Happy New Year!

It would help to identify the version number of Safari. Older versions (like 5.1.6 and earlier) of Safari have fairly poor standards support.

Hmm... I can't reproduce this in Safari, although I am running version 7.

Sorry this got lost in my subscription list.

Oddly today it is working fine... and apparently I need to update my copy of Safari - so much for Apples automated 'Software Updater' - paah!

Nope. Problem is HTML rendering "standard." All @!#$%^ browsers work a bit differently. It is getting better, but there are still differences that make "fancy" markup impossible to control.

There are sites where you can get the site to make screen shots of numerous browsers and different versions of a given browser. If you are a web developer it is numbing to see the impossibility of achieving "universal" markup.

What Herb's saying is HTML5, the newest web standard, is a little not standard. For example, I was just on a site where links activated something around 100 pixels (several lines) lower than my mouse pointer. Pretty much every browser (and possibly add-on combination) is going to render a page slightly (or even drastically) differently.

This has always been something of an issue. If you were on a PC, you could tell a Mac-generated page by odd characters where apostrophes(?) were supposed to be. It has been worse recently. Aldie sticks to pretty usual HTML and avoids a lot of it, but obviously not all of it. Theoretically, we could get to the point where you'll only be able to give clear instructions to fellow Safari users, and I to fellow Firefox users.

Goto:

http://browsershots.org/

BGG blocks its site with the robots.txt file which browsershots honors. But the Strong museum site allows robots. So use a page of theirs.

http://www.thestrong.org/online-collections/nmop/3/41/107.31...

Have browsershots take screen shots of the Srong's webpage with various browsers and take a look.

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/robots.txt is an interesting read. I didn't realize BGG only cooperates with Google.
