Examples of linking to Comments in the forums.

The following two examples are straightforward using the comment tag
set. The third example of a link to a comment on a game is more obtuse
to markup.

------------------------------------------------------

This is a link to a comment on a geeklist.

Markup: [comment=2405364][/comment]
Renders as: Comment

------------------------------------------------------
This is a link to a comment on an image.

Markup: [comment=6999][/comment]
Renders as: Comment

------------------------------------------------------
This is a link to a user's comment on a game.

A comment that a user has made on a game is much more dificult to do
since there isn't a nice tag set to make the link. A UML link must be
used through the browser. The link is "messy", so alternate hypertext
should be used.

Got the technique from BGG user Cringing Dragon
in his post Re: Is there a way to link directly to a comment?

(1) Go to the profile page for the user who made the comment you wish
to link to. On the "games" tab, within their collection summary, click
on the number beside "commented". That will get you to the list of all
the user's game comments.

For example see this list of comments by user ellephai
http://rpggeek.com/collection/user/ellephai?comment=1&subtyp...

(2) In the header for the list use the search options to narrow down
from all the comments to just the one in which you are interested. (You
have the option of using the name of the game or unique text within the
comment.)

(3) Now that you have the unique comment, again in the header of the
list, click on the "Permalink" option which will create a URL line in
the browser which will recreate the display as it is being shown.

For example I search on the title "Agricola" and got this browser line:

"http://rpggeek.com/collection/user/ellephai?searchstr=Agricola&rankobjecttype=subtype&rankobjectid=17&columns=title|status|version|rating|bggrating|plays|comment|commands&searchfield=title&geekranks=RPG+Rank&comment=1&ff=1&subtype=boardgame"

(4) In the above URL address line the forum parser doesn't like the
vertical bars (|) used to separate the columns in the view. You must
substitute %7C for the |.

Note that you can also delete some of the columns by deleting them in
the URL line, or you could have delete them by changing the view before
you captured the URL line by selecting Permalink.

Final Markup: [url=http://rpggeek.com/collection/user/ellephai?searchstr=Agricola&rankobjecttype=subtype&rankobjectid=17&columns=title%7Cstatus%7Cversion%7Crating%7Cbggrating%7Cplays%7Ccomment%7Ccommands&searchfield=title&geekranks=RPG+Rank&comment=1&ff=1&subtype=boardgame]Comment[/url]

Renders: Comment

As noted by Cringing Dragon, this isn't a link directly to the comment,
but it is a link to a filtered view that shows only the comment.

Linking to Game Comment in the Wiki
Linking to a game comment in the wiki uses the same technique as forum
posts to get the URL browser line. However the markup only uses one tag
instead of two.

Wiki markup:
[http://rpggeek.com/collection/user/ellephai?searchstr=Agricola&rankobjecttype=subtype&rankobjectid=17&columns=title%7Cstatus%7Cversion%7Crating%7Cbggrating%7Cplays%7Ccomment%7Ccommands&searchfield=title&geekranks=RPG+Rank&comment=1&ff=1&subtype=boardgame Comment]
