The Task of Ezrok is intended to be a light card game and player involvement is primarily through logistical decision-making when traveling the game area. This is very critical when choosing to play the RETURN TRIP variant or the URGENCY variant. However, very little strategy is allowed when hostile encounters turn up ...combat results are instantaneous. Of course having control over movement can help to avoid these nasty situations -particularly if you have to backtrack (some encounters like to linger).

There is also a 'press-your-luck' element if deciding to take on side quests; to acquire Special Resources points. Once you acquire these points there is additional opportunity for choice making. You can keep them to minimize the effects of future hostile encounters or use them in substitution for other resource points lost (which can occur through a variety of circumstances).

UPDATE (12/11/2014): Four new expansions have been released that pump up the game mechanics and extend player decision-making.

UPDATE (10/19/2015): A heavier version of this game now exists in the form of a Deluxe Version. Check it out:
