Reasons to move

1. Global warming will soon turn Norway into a balmy paradise
2. Fantastic public education system
3. Free health care
4. Norway's government owns 1% of the entire world stock market, making each person living in Norway worth around $1 million.

http://news.yahoo.com/norwegians-become-crown-millionaires-o...

So this isn't really an RSP topic with just the above, but I'm sure others can make it one by comparing Norway to other oil rich nations or recalling how the Vikings enslaved and/or raped their great great great great great grandmother.

Is she still on the team, or retired?

Norwegians are generally the nicest people around but the underlying smugness arising from their oil-driven prosperity can get a bit annoying. You might want to think about whether that could become irksome.

Plus, and I don't mean to make any insinuations here, but you might want to have a good bias-free think about your relative attractiveness compared to the average Norwegian person. You wouldn't want to be the ugliest person in the country after all.

Heh. On a whole, I find Americans and yes, even Brits, a lot more attractive than the average Norwegian. Not that they are ugly, just that when they are ugly, they are really, really ugly... and it seems to be in large quantities.

Anyway, Norway, prior to WWII, was a backwoods, reject, hick nation. Poor, inbred and stupid. As a rule, even today, there are tons of racists and despite the "progressive" stance of the government when it comes to immigration and social services, there is a growing resentment and anger against the influx of coloreds and the drain on resources they represent.

Further, it was the USA that made Norway rich. Yeah, there was oil nearby, but how the fuck were a bunch of hill people who spent their winters fucking reindeer and then eating them going to get oil out of the ground? Much less the North Sea? They are the northern version of the illiterate and cruel goat-fucking Arabs prior to the USA (and other interests such as the UK, Dutch, etc.) making them into "super people" in the matter of a few decades.

Quislings were more than willing to sell out their fellow countrymen to the first guy that came along with a tank... in this case, Hitler, so the notion that it's somehow a magical, special place that should be an example to us all is, I think, bogus. It's just another cold-ass backwoods frozen place with oil under the soil and a government so propitiative that they'll sell their resources to anyone who demands it.

But other than that... I think it's a cool place with lots of decent broads and some very, very nice looking sweaters.

I'm assuming the author doesn't make the editorial choices for the site. I could be wrong.

You seemed to have missed the memo. It's no longer global warming. It's now "climate change", which means Norway is going to turn into a freezing, blizzard covered hell hole.

Which is colder: Hell (Norway) or Hell (Michigan)?
I understand that both are frozen over at the moment.

Dante had a cold version, so it isn't without precedent.

Out of curiosity, I looked at Google's Ngram viewer for references to "global warming," "climate change," and "global climate change." I narrowed the focus to the period from 1980 (before any of the terms appeared to be in use) to 2008 (which is as far as Google's books database goes). The results - in American English books, British English books, and English books as a whole - are kind of interesting. (Can't figure out how to embed the image here.)

Basically, as I read these charts, "climate change" and "global warming" gained ground at about the same rate, with "global warming" surpassing "climate change" for about a decade in American English. "Global climate change" has never even been in the running. And while "global warming" has dropped off relative to "climate change" in recent years, (a) it is still increasing in use, and (b) both terms grew in usage at approximately the same rate over the same period until the early- to mid-1990's, so it's not like there's been a sudden recent change in usage.

I have loved that story for years. I wonder if the exam part is true?

The "proof" is hilarious regardless.
