ID 23 on the [T3] Tanker Target Roster is the Lucretia, 2600 tons. The problem is that we have an inconsistancy:

1) The combat mat and the counters seem to indicate that 3 damage is the minimum to sink a tanker.
2) The chart under [U3] Attack Damage Chart says that any ship under 5k tons or less only needs 2 damage to sink.

Anyone have a thought on this? Personally, I think I prefer #2 since in general a smaller ship should be easier to sink.

Note, in real life she was hit by 1 torpedo from U-34 and broke in two about 100 miles west of Lands End.

Maybe being a tanker she is more resistant to sinking than a cargo ship because of the hull construction......

Good catch. Like you, I would play: Small Tanker = 2 hits to sink.

It would be cool to have an official POV on this matter.

I identified 4 Tankers with tonnage of 5,000 tons or less:

#08 Vaclite (5000t)
#15 Leticia (2600t)
#23 Lucrecia (2600t)
#40 Congonian (5000t)

2 or 3 points to sink?

Frank, let me defer to Greg on this one. He may have commented earlier on a similar question for one of these Tankers, but I haven't had a chance to confirm what his response was. I *think* he said go with less Hits per tonnage value, but please don't quote me quite yet!!

Has an official answer surfaced for this? I've come up against the same issue with Silent Victory.

John is correct; go with the lesser number of hits due to the tonnage value. As Rules Editor and a playtester I can tel you this is how we always handled this situation. Sorry I didn't see this sooner or I would have responded earlier.

Hey Jack, not a problem. I figured it would be determined by tonnage. Thank you for the response. Pretty quick too if you ask me! Since this was buried in a bygone thread
Thanks again,
Cole
