Emanuele,

I'm moving the blocks around for the Ardennes scenario. I want to make sure that the German air units do not suffer the snow MALUS when attacking - in December. Is that correct?

Does the Allied penalty MALUS for December only count for attacking units, or both attacking and defending? Ground and air units - or just ground units?

Hello Greg,

in the Ardennes scenario the German units (ALL) do not suffer any penalties for the SNOW.

The Allies, according to:

9.3
Snow:
During snow weather turns, the
skies are not clear. So all AU, all AA, and
all attacking GCU get 1 Malus.
GSU artillery fire is not affected.
Rivers are considered to be frozen and
have no effects on combat for neither the
attacker nor the defender.

Remember: All Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish
and Soviet units, and all mountain units, but
also any unit in his own home country, do not
suffer any combat penalties due to snowy
weather, but they still suffer the movement and
supply penalties.

have:
Air Units: quartered
Ground Support Units: halved
Ground Combat Units: quartered when attacking, halved when defending
AA: quartered

Does it help?

In the scenario setup please note that the American 7th army artillery east of Brussels does not exist (is a duplicate), while it is correctly showed in Nancy.

ALL THE BEST

I thought that was the case but I wanted to make sure.

The hex held by the British directly southeast of Rotterdam is in real trouble given these conditions as there is no retreat path for one of the two units (or both if German air units attack the one valid retreat hex).

Yes,

as you have noticed, there are some great chances for the Germans to give Patton OR Monty - at least - a bad headache.
