We've been playing the game with characters from the movie "Cars" as they race through Radiator Springs. This had us wondering if we could successfully recreate the scene where Sheriff chases Lightning McQueen through town.

We're still working out the kinks, but thought I'd share our initial take:

• Like the standard game, both cars are racing to a finish line.

• The pursuing car starts with extra track cards equal to +1 card for every 5 cards on the total track.

• The pursuing car also starts with RPM cards equal to +1 card for every 10 cards on the total track.

• The fleeing car wins if it either a) crosses the finish line first or b) increases the gap by +1 card for every 5 cards on the total track. For example, if Sheriff starts 5 cards behind, then Lightning McQueen wins if he can increase the distance to 10 cards.

• The pursing car wins if it is able to get next to or in front of the fleeing car before the finish line.

After playing this variant some more, it is too easy for the fleeing car to increase the gap by +1 card for every 5 cards. I'm now thinking it is either +2 for every 5 cards. Or, to keep the game simple, just scrap this particular rule altogether — so that the fleeing car only wins by crossing the finish line first.
