There are a number of things that could be done differently with the Characters for the 2nd Edition.

In the end we may not do anything differently, but...

It seems like a good idea to have a discussion about it.

Some really great ideas about how to improve Police Precinct have come from these sorts of discussions.

Sssssooooo...

Have at it!

Let's hear ideas.

As always...

Thanks in advance to all who participate in this process!!!

I didn't want this to be lost (KS comment):

Anders said...

"Are the character cards/tiles going to be double sided in the 2nd edition as well? Any plans to use the back for something else, like: - PP logo, to make blind election easier - backstory for the character, for better immersion - dirty cop picture and abilities, for thematic play - blank for D.I.Y. people ?"

Thanks ALL!

I like that idea too. And why should the back side be wasted? We even use the back side of the board.

+1 to double sided with different gendered characters.

But I do also love the idea of having character backstories on the back as well! (I think I'd pick different gender over backstory though if I had to choose one.)

Here is another idea...

Karl - "Some folks have engineered really cool double-sided characters that can be upgraded. The possibilities for this are pretty fun to consider. A lot of that might happen when we develop new characters for Season Two."

So with this in mind...

Maybe the base 8 characters are double sided Male-female, and...

The new characters are upgradable.

then what goes on the back side of the K9 one?

???

Keep the ideas comin'!

I pulled the trigger on the Kickstarter in the last 10 minutes. I was a bit of a Johnny-come-lately, so I don't want to take over people's sandbox at the last minute.

I have three daughters and a wife, all whom will be playing this game, so I do need more female characters. I have already gone online and downloaded some pictures that George made for other games, that I was planning on doing some custom lady cops.

If you did them instead, that would be fantastic. Really REALLY need more female representation in the game.

Another vote for male/female officers.

If you want specialist officers such as K9/Bomb squad etc, you could just have one officer per side, but put the bomb expert in the full protective gear (wouldn't be able to see if m/f) and for the K9, show the dog e.g. Officer Dibble + with pic of dog.

Hello,
Have we had any confirmation that the flip side of the character sheets will have female police officers on them? Even if its the same stats, but just a different name/picture that would be fantastic.

UPDATE:

In case anyone missed this new thread...

http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1181755/second-edition-any-w...

The Irishman got things going again on this topic, which has resulted in a bunch of new characters (mostly women).

Basically it will be very close to, if not exactly, following the male on one side and the female on the other concept which seems to have broad appeal among the fans of the game.

We love this idea too!

The possible slight variation from this model will (if it even happens) involve one, and maybe two, of the character tiles whereby they could have the ability to be upgraded by starting on one side and then flipping the tile to the more powerful level (side).

Stay tuned!

and...

thanks again to all who weighed-in on this topic, and especially to Dough who brought it up a time or two and kept it from slipping between the cracks (which it might have).

Thanks Doug and ALL!

Wait, one last thing...

Just to say that the end result of all of this is this thread...

http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1189371/the-real-police-behi...

It's one of my favorite Police Precinct threads!

Billy Bob!

What about him?

He has been left out.

My friend who grew up on a farm felt slighted about this.

As I explained it...

Since Commonville is a tough urban environment, the "Red-neck" has not (yet) been well represented.

But, the more I thought about it...

I agreed that it would be nice to see Billy Bob in the game somehow.

Ssssooooooo...

Stay tuned for a possible member of the team who transferred in from the hill country.

He will have some skills that others don't.

I see some misadventures coming from this.

Think McCloud but with a family history of distilling rather than ranching.
