In my youth (late 70s early 80s) I played a two player game based on the British Army. The board was a battlefield which I think was the size of a chess board, and your pieces were all different ranks in the army. The pieces were pieces of card the size of cigarette cards in plastic bases which your opponent could not see. I believe the objective was to capture your opponents flag or something. The pieces were ranks like Brigadier and Captain. The board may have been a battlefield design in a grid.

Please, for the sake of my sanity.....does ANYONE out there know what I am babbling on about????

Lol!

I hope so.....

Spencer

Sounds a lot like Stratego.

If it is--and I think it is--consider yourself lucky: Unlike a lot of people who come here trying to remember a game from their youth, you'll have no trouble finding a copy for yourself!

I used to play it under the version called Admirals

Stratego uses the same system in a load of themed variants.

You should be able to find Stratego at some game stores around you that sell board games.

However, you can also find this particular game at Target and Barnes & Noble easily.

Thanks for all the replies. I has searched through the lists before posting my query, but couldn't find it. Now I have found photos of the actual version I played all those years ago.

Making my own sounds cool......
