Life and death come and go like marionettes dancing on a table. Once their strings are cut, they easily crumble.

Hello all.

I was looking for advice on a ruleset to play with WH40k or Warzone type miniatures. meeple

I'm pretty happy with Song of Blades and Heroes for fantasy, and something in that vein would be nice. But I'd also don't mind something slightly more complex, as long as it has a solid tactical feel. cool

Any ideas?

For skirmish gaming, I can recommend the following:

Savage Showdown (free from Pinnacle Entertainment)
-- Savage Worlds greatly expands this
5150 Star Army (Two Hour Wargames)

For tactical unit gaming:

Gruntz
5150 Battalion Commander (Two Hour Wargames)
Quadrant 13 (Too Fat Lardies)

While I have tried other rules, these are the best ones that I own and play. Your taste and number of painted miniatures will determine what may suit you.

Ever thought about Necromunda?

Yeah, but I'm not into the post-apocalyptic theme.

I'll check out Savage Worlds (which I usually dig), and Stargrunt as well.

For tactical unit, I believe I haven't enough minis!

Have you tried the Sci-fi Song of Blades & Heroes games?

Mutants and Death Ray Guns (think Gamma World Roleplaying Game), single figure units.

Also there's Swatters: Large Scale Bug Hunting Miniatures Rules. Units are fire teams of 2-5 figures.

Flying Lead has some rules for near term scifi.

If you like the Two Hour Wargames (THW Game Design) system (download the free Chain Reaction 3.0 to check them out), they have 5150: Star Army (individual figures) and 5150 Battalion Commander for larger battles.

Shock Force (second edition) has a nice simple set of rules with unit construction rules.

Infinity has their rules available free for download, small unit skirmish, a bit complex, neat combat hacking stuff thrown in!

My son and I use

Mutants and Death Ray Guns works fine for SF, Song of Blades system.

FUBAR very simple, for when you are in a brainless mood.

and homebrew converted

Bolt Action to SF.
