I'm preparing for some store tournaments/championships, and I'd like to test out my squad against whatever the competition is likely to be. Now that Wave 3 has been out for a few months, what are the popular builds you're seeing?

There are oodles.

But if you want something to test against, I'd go with two extremes:

- 7 TIE Fighters including Howlrunner (usually with Stealth; several variations are effective)

- 2 named YT-1300's, especially if they have some combination of Push the Limit(s), Millennium Falcon title, Recon Specialist(s) and Gunner(s) between them.

*edit*
For a third, I'd consider either 2 X-wings + 2 B-wings (esp. Daggers w/ Advanced Sensors), or 2 (proto) A-wings + 3 (blue) B-wings, as those are pretty popular/powerful.

Of course there are LOTS of variations...but recently I've been seeing a lot of Y/X/B-Wing builds. A lot of people have discovered that putting Adv. Sensors on a Dagger Squadron gives you a lot of flexibility, firepower, and is fun to fly. And other people have discovered that a "naked" Y-Wing is not nearly as bad as the internet would lead you to believe; 8 hull for 18 pts can be a lot to chew threw in a 75-minute timed tournament game.

Probably a better way to answer this question is what I am NOT seeing in winning 100 pt tournament builds...these ships are notably absent:

Hwk-290
Tie-Advanced

Lambdas and A-Wings are almost as rare.

*edit for spelling

I sat on the top table of a 32-player tournament for 5 out of 6 games before throwing away the tournament on a mistake. My build?

Biggs
Dagger + Advanced Sensors
Dagger + Advanced Sensors
Rebel Operative + Ion Cannon Turret

It works at the moment because more people are flying Rebels, which tend to have lower agility which means the ion turret works well. I love watching people spend loads on their B-Wing only for me to accompany it off the board. I even ioned Chewie with all his 8 hull remaining off the board once... that was fun.

Once Imperial Aces comes out and there's more of a shift to the Imps, the ion turret is going to become less effective and then I'll move away from the Rebel Operative again. But for now it's worked a dream.

Can you counter or survive a significant alpha strike? Practice vs Blue thunder (2 BW with HLC and 2 rookies) and Jonus strike (Jonus with 3 Bombers, with several missiles/protons and bombs).

Another solid list to watch out for the triple BH threat. Again your goal is to wipe out each list (otherwise you'll only get modified wins).
