Next, we decided to try our hands at building the best Casino in this Avalon Hill offering. This game reminded me a lot of Princes of Florence, if you take away the Action Phase of that Kramer game. Not a lot of luck here, which scores major points in my book.
I set about trying to score as many of the possible bonuses as possible, such as connected Hotel-Casino, Full Hotel/Casino spaces, Diamonds, most money, and most population. I think I achieved all of these goals except for most money, which Terry got by building so many slot machines that Grandmothers Against Gambling picketed his Casino for days.
I scored this game an 8.5 based on the smooth mechanics, but I think given the choice, I’d always choose Princes over this, for theme and elegance, mostly. (And Princes happens to be my second favorite game!)
