Hi,
during out last game one of the players finished the game with the following science cards set up:
How many science points is this (excluding the first wonder stage)? We calculated it to be 43. Is it correct? Thanks in advance.

Science is 31 if the wonder symbol is a tablet. Leader score is 12.

Yes, that is correct. Well, mostly.
Strictly speaking, the 43 points split on the VP categories as 31 science points and 12 leader points.

I can also confirm that it's science = 31 and leaders = 12. Found the same results.

One might still add that going strictly by the wording of the rules, the owner of the wonder would need to declare that he chooses a Tablet for his wonder stage joker in order to score the 43 points. The joker is "a symbol of their choice" according to the rules.

If he were stupid enough to choose a Gear, he'd only score 37 points (28 science and 9 leader), if he'd even choose a Compass, it would be 35 points (26 science and 9 leader).

But then, I've never played this strictly so far, if the players are still inexperienced enough to not know what the best choice is, I think they should be helped / told. So I wrote my scoring spreadsheet to calcuate the best choice automatically.

In our group, it would still total to 43 points, but we consider Aristotle's bonus of 3 points per set to just count when doing science. It just seems easier to us to count science sets as 10, instead of counting them as 7 and then going back and re-counting them as 3.

Hypatia's additional 6 we'd put under the leader row.

Like I said, still ends up with the same number.

Tablet = 31
Gear = 28
Sextant = 26

Aristotle gives you
37 with tablet
31 with Gear
29 with Sextant

^^ Even better there since you're getting an additional 3pts from having a 2nd complete set.
